Zogby: Kerry polls last among Dem contenders.
"Former Vermont Governor Dr. Howard Dean continues his dominance over the other Democratic presidential hopefuls. Of 400 likely Democratic voters polled, a plurality (28%) supports him. No other candidate reached double-digits. Connecticut Senator Joseph Lieberman leads the remainder with 8%, followed by Missouri Congressman Richard Gephardt (7%), retired General Wesley Clark (6%), and Massachusetts Senator John Kerry (4%)."

The margin of error for Democrats polled is +/- 5.0 percentage points.

Released: December 18, 2003

2. I'll start.
Dean's ahead! We're doomed! The sky is falling! Only Clark can win and the press is ignoring him. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

5. Kerry should have been more worried
about Clark than bashing Dean the entire campaign. If Kerry can squeak past Clark in NH, he may be able to ressurect his campaign. Kerry supporters made a huge mistake throwing their lot in with the Clark supporters and comiserating with them about Dean. Clark is hot on their heels and with this new "rumour" that Clark has a big announcement coming right before the primary, it is looking pretty bad for Kerry. Kerry should have been satisfied to take the number two slot and go after Clark, a big mistake that is coming back to bite him in the ass.

6. I agree
When Clark first entered, the Kerry people and the Clark people banded together against Dean. Now it looks like they're in a fight with each other to be the anti-Dean.

12. You can agree all you like but I'd like to see your basis for
the claim that the Kerry and Clark people "banded together against Dean".

Is opposing Dean automatically enough to enter someone into a conspiracy against the "chosen one"?

1000 hours left, Closer.

That's when the questions will start to be answered.

I think Kerry spent much capital attacking Dean. Clark might just be the one who takes him (Kerry) down...

7. Sfecap, I'm for Dean and don't like this.
I can understand a "woo-hoo, my guy is in the lead in New Zealand," but starting a thread for somebody trailing dead last...that's unnecessary salt in a wound, and doesn't help your candidate. It's what you call being a 'bad-winner,' and it doesn't make you friends.

I don't like what Kerry has chosen to do with his campaign, but he has served MA well, it's self-destructive to gloat on this.

8. I'm not gloating.
Is there a "gloat" in that post? It's just news from Zogby, no gloating intended.

Frankly, I'm a bit shocked by it.

Of course, polls change all of the time as we have seen here....

This has GOT TO hurt, as it is; it strikes me as poor taste to make it a 'headline post'.

This is painful to people who are dedicated followers of Kerry. I am frankly shocked at what is happening to his campaign. I am not even sure if I believe this poll.
BTW did anyone notice that Edwards is not mentioned as a contender?

18. It's a shame that Kerry has done this to himself
by never owning up to his own mistakes and by taking positions on grave issues by sticking a finger into the wind. As Clark pointed out yesterday, Kerry has tried to have it both ways over the Iraq situation. Democratic voters aren't going to support a politician that has the appearance of posturing for political expediency.

BTW, you'd have to post some pretty bad shit for a pretty long time before any post by a Dean supporter should be seen as gratuitous.

23. This says Sen. Kerry has a message problem.
So, Sen. Kerry:

1. Needs to craft a cogent theme into one metamessage.
2. Get the message out to those who don't know who he is.
3. Get across why he'd make the best President in at least two generations.

Problems:

1. Corporate McPravda McMedia
2. Playing Catch-Up

Recommendation:

1. No more Mr. Nice Guy.

30. Proof Dean's NEGATIVE ATTACKS WORK-- Bush-Lite, Cockroach, Washington Pols
are not at all liked by the democratic electorate.

Great Job, Dr. Dean. Now point out that Democrat that attacks another
is totally lacking in party loyalty and ego-driven to boot.

33. What young voters like Lieberman over Dean?!?!
WTF, Clark, sure, Kucinich, ok, even Sharpton but fucking Lieberman!!! Did they do that polling in CT at some rich youngster's bar-mitzvah? Lieberman is by far the uncoolest of the candidates. Kerry can atleast ride a motor cycle. Can you imagine Lieberman on a motorcycle? It would remind me of a crappy movie like Any Which Way but Loose, where our hero, played by Lorenzo Lamas, has to save the high school principle from the evil bikers! Damn, Lieberman so fucking lame!!! Not ONE young person I know likes him at all.
