but why would a Democratic president need coattails and seats in both houses in order to exercise his or her power as commander in chief of the armed forces? I am not saying that he would. But he is the only one on either side that could have the chance.
He is the only Democrat that will pull large numbers of independents and moderate Republicans.
An Obama/McCain race would be the clearest referendum on Iraq. An Obama landslide, and
we are in driver's seat to exit Iraq.
