Barack and Roll for Obama - California Bay Area fundraiser tonight.
I found out about this at a house party I attended last night with a really talented musician, Janet Robin. Here is here website:

Janet is also playing at the fundraiser. Tickets are $25 for students, $50 regular. Other bands will also be playing. Looks like a fun way to support Obama if you are in the bay area and don't have plans yet tonight!

1. Any prospect of a little blues action? ;)
I don't care which campaign it is, but I'm starved for a little old-time bluesiness to go with the political staples. ;)

3. She played a great blues number for the encore at the house party

last night. It was something written by a black woman in the 20s (very famous blues singer) and something about "the mill broke down" was the refrain.

Edit: Gladys Bentley, I believe.

6. She's apparently a maestra on the 6-string, too
Awesome, a Jimi Hendrix for the campaign! Now we just gotta find one for the Edwards campaign.

7. I can confirm that! She rocks!

I ended up getting all three of her CDs!

"Two steps forward and one step back,
Trying to find that perfect path.
With a little hope and a little faith,
I'll soon be there, where I want to be, now.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, where I want to be."

Check out her stuff on Itunes. It's great!

She had a really enthusiastic response from the crowd, and there was an announcement that from now on her music is going to be playing at S.F. headquarters. Kinda cool.

I was imagining some other campaign type metaphors in her songs....

"It's gonna it muddy before it gets sunny"

"it's a mad, mad mission
but I've got the ambition
sign me up"
