She made it clear it isn't about Hillary, it's about Obama and his unsurpassed and proven ability to bring new voters into the process and attract more independent and open-minded Rrepublicans. I'm sure coming from the same state as John McCain (now the Republican frontrunner) she understands how important that will be in order for Dems to reclaim the White House.

Also, Obama met with her personally, but Hillary just spoke with her by phone. She said he was very compelling and persuasive...the kind of traits we need in our nominee.

1. Do you think she'd say it was against Hillary?
I actually don't think Napolitano dislikes Hillary personally. But I do think many in the west are concerned about a Clinton candidacy, the divisiveness, and the backlash down-ticket. They aren't going to come out and say anything negative about Hillary, I can't imagine why anybody thinks any Democratic politician would.

7. Clinton will KILL us down ticket here in the West
I'm working on a County sup. and utility board race, and while I think she can squeak out a presidential win those repukes who are coming out against her will defeat my candidates.

9. Greetz from a blue area. You couldn't be more correct.
I wish I had a dime for every (R) here who told me that they would stay home on a Giuliani bid, but if Hillary gets the nod, they will be out in droves to vote against her. My own (R) mother is in this camp and threatening to start a carpool service for election day.

18. It will suck royally
We'll have a Democratic prez (if she can win) with a razor thin majority in House and no pickups in the Senate. The repukes will give her every bit as much grief as they gave Bill back in the '90s. Local governments in red and purple states will remain mostly under GOP control. She has no coattails to speak of and way too much baggage. I like and respect Hillary Clinton and believe she is doing a fine job in the Senate. I want to see a woman in the WH but not at the price it will cost us with this one.

2. A powerful and welcome endorsement.
And she couldn't be more right that the Democratic nominee needs to be able to attract independent voters. Obama is the candidate that can accomplish that.

8. Why did she have to endorse anyone?
Wonder what Obama said to her.

You know, he has an office set up already at ASU. He opened it months ago.

12. Why wouldn't she endorse?
Here is what she said:

The Clinton campaign had been aggressively wooing Ms. Napolitano, a two-term governor who was appointed as the United States attorney for Arizona in the Clinton administration. They made repeated overtures, aides said, which only intensified since the New Hampshire primary.

In the conference call today, the governor acknowledged the difficult choice.

“I thought very deeply about this decision,” she said. “In my view, it wasn’t about gender nor was it about race.”

Both candidates, she said, are “eminently qualified individuals,” adding that “either one of whom, I think, would serve well as president.”

So why Mr. Obama?

“To me, this election is fundamentally about change and it’s about a new vision in Washington, DC. It’s about bringing people of different areas of the country together, people of different parties together, people of different ages together. To me, Senator Obama is evidence of that change that we need.”

That should tell you something about Hillary.

Even the media who has known her, and covered her since her husband was governor in Arkansas, dont seem to like her.

We can't risk our country with voters who haven't voted.

It's just too much of a gamble.

22. The Arizona Governor is DAMN RIGHT !!
I like Hillary, but this OTHER WOMAN is absolutely right. Hillary, for better or worse, is VERY polarizing and thus VERY risky in the general election. Obama attracts independents, new voters, males (whom we have lost bigtime to the R's of late), and even some thoughtful R's. He embodies freshness and newness. Hillary does not. Again, if Hillary's nominated I'll support her, but OBAMA IS THE BEST CHOICE FOR THE GENERAL ELECTION, AND THAT'S WHAT COUNTS !!!

29. Napolitano should have been the one to run to be our first woman president
She has much more class and is far less polarizing than Hillary is.
