Why do some DU'ers let Matt Drudge guide the conversation of our national debate?
Edited on Fri Jan-11-08 07:57 PM by ruggerson
90% of the drivel that gets everyone up in arms here is bullshit RNC propaganda reposted from Sludge or whatever he's linking to at the moment.

This is exactly what he wants us to do.

Their goal is to drive a wedge through the party, so that if Hillary wins, Obama supporters will be embittered and if Obama wins, Hillary supporters will be embittered.

And yet some of you leap to Matt Drudge's divisive instructions like little, bouncing Jack Russell terriers.

This is a primary. Shit happens. Hopefully, we're all grown up enough to understand and remember what's at stake here.

Clinton and Obama are on the SAME SIDE.

The enemy is the GOP, not us.

The bottom line is to get one of them elected President. Period.

2. Because they hate the Clinton, so Drudge is a great source for RW talking points against her.

9. It's one thing to be angry about a policy position Clinton
takes or pick on something she said at the debates or want her to clarify an action she herself takes. Same goes for Obama. This is a primary after all and it's going to be nasty at times.

But, these endless stories about remote surrogates saying something offensive (usually a major stretch to find the "offensive" part) almost all come from Drudge.

11. There is a clear pattern of disruptors here who fan the flames
of our worst inclinations. We really need to get smarter about who and what we respond to. I've fallen for it a few times myself.

But then, I'm an Edwards supporter; it's easier to see the baiting when you're standing just outside the fray.

12. Obama keeps telling us not to be divisive...
... but the other side is divisive (as you say).

And as Barney Frank argues:

"...the only way I can think of to avoid 'refighting the same fights we had in the 1990's', to quote Senator Obama, is to let our opponents win these fights without a struggle."

If Obama wants "unity," maybe he can side with us instead of telling us we've been wrong to be fighting these guys since the 1960s, 1990s, etc. Because I'm going to be a little divisive when he tells me not to be partisan against the GOP and its operatives. Sorry.
