1. I think Kerry has done a fine job
defining Bush and calling him out on his political agenda and political failures.

Kerry is proving to me to more of a fighter than I imagined. He was not my first choice but I have not had difficulty in coming around.

3. I agree
Kerry has been doing VERY well. IMO Gore should have fired back more in Y2K, and Kerry is jumping on all of Smirk's lies, distortions, and disasters.

2. The Tao of Kerry by Pete
Those who stand on tiptoes do not stand firmly.
Those who rush ahead don't get very far.
Those who try to out shine others dim their own light.
Those who call themselves righteous can't know how wrong they are.
Those who boast of their accomplishments diminish the things they have done.

5. Yep. Psychological war of defining image has begun
This is where Kerry needs to be aggressive and proactive. And he is keeping up and staying ahead of the curve from what I can see.

7. No, it's over
Edwards (or whoever) would have to win something like sixty percent of the remaining delegates in order to deny Kerry the nomination. That isn't going to happen.

9. Not necessarily
The super delegates aren;t bound to vote for anyone. If Edwards is the momentum candidate come the last primaries and gains a lot of ground on Kerry, they could be the difference.

Plus Howard Dean has not released his delegates, and released delegates dont have to vote any certain way. So Clark delegates don't clinch the nomination for Kerry either.

So, Edwards just has to have the appearance of being the electable one come the convention, assuming he keeps Kerry at 45 percent or under in the total delegate count.

He would then have a good long time to make his case to the unbound delegates.

Kerry engaging Bush is good for Edwards. It is the strategy Clinton used with so much skill. The congressional D's and R's fought and he stayed above the fray. When Bush goes negative, Edwards can stay in the shadows and pick up independents and undecided dems. Kerry will fight back and Edwards nice guy strategy will win big.

Of course this will mean that Edwards is unvetted for a national campaign. (The same reason I didn't like people telling the challengers to get behind Kerry after NH). This is not a major problem though.

Since Edwards will in no way be able to clinch the nominations without Kerry dropping out, both men will have a LONG time to be vetted against each other. This is excellent. It keeps the Dems message on the front page for FREE! The two candidates will not have to spend a lot of money to keep their name in the public eye. The press will cover it because the race would still be in the air.

In the end the candidate the most able to resist Rep dirty tricks will survive, and Bush's money advantage is negated cause he will not know who to spend it against until the Dem candidate gets the funds from securing the nomination.

It could get exciting. Even if you support Kerry, it is in your interest to have Edwards last long. If you are an Edwards support, it goes without saying.
