3. I've watched a few of her speeches on CSPAN.
She is lovely and so personable, and she is being warmly embraced by America.

4. Personable, yes she is that
And so honest. Talking about "mean girls" and our meanness. And that we screw up our kids, you bet we do. She's awesome.

5. Americans are overwhelmed by their authenticity.
I think the Obamas challenge our better nature.

This is still one of my favorites, from when he announced.

6. Wow she just said something profound
She said we are pricing our children out of the career of their dreams.

So true and something I hadnt ever thought about.

8. My son was going to be a teacher
He went to one year of school, looked at the student loan, thought of a teacher's salary, freaked out and quit. He was terrified he was going to have $20,000 of a debt and not be able to pay it off. It's really hard to know what to tell your kids these days. I've talked to a lot of twenty-somethings who are just working because they don't trust the debt of college to really pay off.

10. My wife is a teacher
We are still paying off her student loan 8 years later. Thankfully she finished but her salary doesn't come close to matching what she could make is she applied her masters elsewhere. She loves it though so
we make sacrifices.

14. Well I wish he'd have finished
That's one of the pitfalls of living in a small town. It's kind of hard for kids to have that vision of what's possible, exactly what Michelle was talking about. But at least he has a start if he decides to go back later. It's great your wife is dedicated to teaching. I would have liked to have been a teacher, I don't have the temperament for it. :)

11. That part of Michelle's speech was really great
I can see why she's the closer. :)

Plus, I especially liked the part about the trust fund and Cheney. :)

13. Pushing through the fear and doubt, excellent
She's wonderful. Most certainly is the closer. I listen to Obama and think it doesn't get any better. Then I listen to her and she just blows me away too.

12. She made a good point. After law school he chose to serve others.
I listen to Romney and Guiliani and others who complain that he does not have executive experience. According to Rudy being a CEO is enough too. But instead he chose to serve others on a community basis. I am beginning to believe that it is the singular fights that you choose that make you a leader and not the cushy job you are awarded from privilege.

Honestly, ever day we have an evil idiot in the white house who does not know what he is doing (and sometimes knows exactly what he is doing in a frightening way). So if he needs a little time to get his footing, then I'm okay with that because I know that he has the judgment and the strength to do what is right. The learning curve with him will be fast. We keep hearing about day one. What about day 100 and day 356. What will these people be doing on those days?

15. I think it's important
He sure could have done anything he wanted. I really think his choices are a testament to his character.
