Fox News Begins Major Cover-Up of O'Reilly Assault on Obama Aide
Edited on Sun Jan-06-08 12:40 AM by nashuaadvocate
This is amazing.

I've now posted both videos on my blog--first, O'Reilly's initial admission of assault "live" on Fox News, and second, the "edited" admission Fox News is now running--and it's just stunning.

Now Fox News says that, according to O'Reilly, the confrontation was "just verbal." But O'Reilly himself--live, earlier, and on-air--admitted otherwise. The whitewash has begun. I hope folks will look at both videos and confirm for me that this is Fox News whitewashing a criminal assault (in the State of New Hampshire, defined as "unprivileged physical contact"; I practiced criminal law in Nashua, New Hampshire for six years, and represented scores of average Americans arrested for doing no more and no less than what Bill did here). Fox's subterfuge is likely a knowing and strategic one, as it comes on precisely the most important point of this entire issue: whether what happened in Nashua was in the nature of a "physical" or "verbal" altercation.

Someone (maybe Fox's in-house counsel) must have told Bill--or Fox News host Brian Wilson--that Bill's admission to making unprivileged physical contact with Obama aide Marvin Nicholson "gently" does not, in New Hampshire, make his actions any less criminal. The two videos can be found here:

1. Is the state bringing charges?

BTW, I adore that "unprivileged." Takes into account how people who know each other touch in all kinds of ways all the time.

5. In New Hampshire...
...it would require either an officer seeing it, a witness reporting it contemporaneously (and thus requesting that NPD begin an on-scene investigation immediately), or Marvin Nicholson making a complaint himself. Unlikely that any of the three happened--but stay tuned to O'Reilly's show on Monday, when, if he's as much of a moron as I think he is, he may well show video of his assault on Nicholson (with O'Reilly again assuming, because he's not an attorney, that executing a two-handed shove of a civilian in order to get better video of a presidential candidate couldn't possibly be a crime).

Of course, we can guess that O'Reilly's video will be heavily edited. The most we can hope for is that Keith Olbermann finds a New Hampshire attorney to interview and confirms with him/her that Bill did in fact commit a crime, and merely got away with it via the sufferance of the Obama campaign.

Which--and here's the irony--is a campaign (Obama's) Bill will probably start savaging as soon as Obama, realizing what Bill did to Marvin, reneges on his promise to go on The O'Reilly Factor. And yet, it's only by the grace of Marvin Nicholson that Bill didn't spend his Saturday afternoon getting booked at NPD headquarters on Panther Drive in Nashua. Most likely by guys I know on the force.

The best part of all this is that there's no speculation here: O'Reilly out and out admitted what he did, which is why Fox now has to clean up after him again.

S.

4. Great catch
O'Reilly admitted he got physical and Fox covered it up. I don't believe O'Reilly's boast that he "removed" the 6' 8" guy.

8. Billo's not exactly a small guy either, he's supposed to be 6' 5 or something.
Of course, I doubt he does more than token exercise. Doesn't strike me as the type.

The other guy's accounting of it is that Billo was yelling at him and shoved him.

6. They just ran the speech on CSPAN again and I watched until the end.
You can hear the yelling right before he gets to O'Reilly. Its from a different direction tho than the other footage that was shown. The encounter was brief on the CSpan video, Obama was dismissive. Twice early in the day, Fox News played the video of O'Reilly admitting he "gently pushed" the Obama staffer. I'm glad it's on tape.

9. The thing that's so amazing about Billo and his Faux Noise Channel
is that they think that if you edit something, you can make it go away--even if other people already saw what happened and have a record of it and can post the record.

They are trapped now. You watch. Irena Briganti will have "no comment." Keith will be in absolute clover. This will be the most fun he's had since Falafel-gate.
