I get the feeling he might win. and he wins the nom, he'll definitely win the GE. But on a personal level i am so not into him. I know that doesn't matter, i know it's not important, but i just canNOT get into the guy. Hil, Biden, Edwards, Dodd, yes. Would love to watch them for the next 4 years. But Obama so far, listening to him, just really not into him at all, i'm kinda put off. Any chance he'll grow on me? I'm sure he's an awesome guy, but he just doesn't 'turn me on' in any way. Anyone else here used to be put off by him grew to like him?

hopeful not too many flames, obviously i'm not putting the guy down, it's just a personal reaction.

hmmmm again
if Edwards was a worthy candidate in 2004, why didn't he help the ticket and bring in some red states?

he's done nothing but pander for four years....what else has he done? i can't think of a thing.

methinks the edwards people are just jealous of obama because edwards was supposed to be the charismatic face of a new generation of dems. he's now just another politician who's accomplished very little in the five or six years...other than building himself a GIGANTIC home ....look at this thing:

that's really experiencing the plight of the poor.

I know. I traveled from El Paso, TX to Las Crues, NM to see Kerry in person. The Edwards people begged the Kerry people to run a 50 state campaign, but Kerry's people won out. I'm surprised you don't know your facts about 2004, were you in grade school by chance?

....i thought north or south carolina would have been a closer race...

bush won by 12 points in N.C.

bush won by 17 points in S.C.

methinks edwards should have made it at least a little closer than that...goes to show he wasn't the one then and he's not the one now.

did i mention he lives in a GIGANTIC house yet he purports to love the poor? yeah, he loves them because he makes money off of the poor and has for the last four years. the more he stayed in the public spotlight "helping the poor", the more money he could make in speaking fees. he's got to pay his very eco-unfriendly energy bill somehow.

Why is it that only R's are permitted to make money in this country?

There are D's that have money, and if they wish to spend it on large homes, it is their money, why cut them up about it?

We don't know what people do with some of their cash, or their time...perhaps he has quietly helped all kinds of people out in many different ways other than what we see.

I figure those that work the war for profit are far worse than those that build a house.

I find it odd that people think D's should live in hovels and beg for food just to be a part of a party that has done more for the worker than all of the neo-cons ever have.

Sentence four "I am here to unite, not divide."

I can't imagine listening to one of the candidates for the next four years, and I hope I don't have to, but I'd look forward to Obama speaking.

He has been using a stump speech, usually they are quite similar, but he speaks about other things on many, many occasions - check out youtube. He's interesting to listen to, and has a quick wit and good sense of humor.

There's MY women's intuition, and "they say it's usually right!"

that keeps me from liking him. but i just realized that it's for the best. the less he says, the more people like him. then he can win. and not to be dark, but if he was really fierce and full of substance, people would be against him. and real change, plus substance, plus viability, he's have to wear a bullet proof vest for the next 8 years. So i think it all makes sense. :)

Substance is not making lots of promises that you can't keep. Substance is not alot of hot air about "expierence" and "fighting." Substance is having heart and knowing with to deal with that sense of purpose. I supported Howard Dean in 2004.x(

26. I'm not particularly fond of him either
I don't think he has real courage or shown any flashes of being something other than a routine politician. But should he go all the way, that could change. The White House has a way of maturing people. What I'd like to see him do is stand up for something controversial that is right and good and not to his political benefit. I see that in Joe Biden alot. He is authentic about what he believes in. I don't see it in Barack Obama.

in case you haven't seen it, or in case you forgot how good it was. Make sure you listen to the entire thing, especially towards the end. You can find videos of it by googling.

Don't worry, my friend, if he gets the nod, he'll grow on ya. In the meantime, he's got Hillary to worry about though ;)

45. Personally, I think it's because he has bad timing. Just as I'm about to get over one screw up, he
commits another unforced error.

He uncanny.

You ALMOST want to get past Donnie McHomophobe, but then he's bashing Hillary (which is OK) for a vote which HE SKIPPED or bashing Edwards for being a trial lawyer who represented injured people against corporations or he's channeling the CEO of some HMO to argue why universal coverage is BAD ....

If Obama got all his wrong notes out of the way at once, you could maybe get past them, but he has a knack for spacing them out so he annoys the shit out of you just when you are wanting to like him.

56. He has different speaking styles depending on the circumstances.
On the stump, he's on fire.

In a question and answer situation, he speaks very carefully and precisely. Like a lot of lawyers, he starts out slowly (hence the accusation that he stutters) then speeds up as he gets his thoughts lined up for the response.

He is consistent in what he says but adapts his tone to the circumstances. If you expect fire works from an interview, you'll be disappointed. On the other hand, listen carefully and you'll hear someone who actually thinks about what he says instead of spouting a rote answer.

58. Don't worry ...
Obama WON'T win a GE if he is the nominee. We will be subject to another 4+ years of Iraq.

74. don't feel like the lone stranger annie
I have never warmed up to him, when the media was all abuzz about his speech at the Convention I made a point to catch it on CSpan and didn't see what everyone was so ga-ga about even then

I'm almost in the "Anybody but Obama" camp and that's sad.

I'll vote for him in the GE but I won't be thrilled to do so.

80. I feel the same way.
Too smooth, too slick. Makes me uneasy. I have yet to feel impressed by him. If he wins the nomination of course I will vote for him but not very happily.

He's never made me enthuasiastic either but if it helps, he seems like a decent enough guy and would probably make a decent president.

I may vote for him. Last night I was sure I was not going to but today after some research I am still considering him. I do favor another candidate but Obama's an OK guy.

87. Nope! unless you were impressed with his oratory, or his lil'
strut, obama will not grow on you: but you listened carefully and you heard the same bs many others have.....If obama is the nominee of this party we again will lose. I do not care that Obama said: "Election theft won't be tolerated".Well heck, if Obama says he's going to fight, just like Gore and Kerry/edwards promised that they were going to fight, that's good enough for us - right? HELL NO!

You all said for months after the 04 election you all wanted a fighter for our nominee in the 08 election. Well folks she entered the campaign and before the week was up there was so much hatred directed at her it was amazing. Many were quoting directly from the gop playbook about her. This has continued month after month and she has withstood all the attacks and even fought back but she was critized for that but she kept on moving forward. You all wanted a bear to be our nominee, then you all go ahead and let obama be the "teddy bear" and the gop will win "BIG TIME"......

I do not care nor have I said HRC would win Iowa by the big margins the pollsters have given us. I say she will win by a narrow margin and if she does not and even finishes third in iowa and second in n.h. you all tell me where obama or edwards will pick up the 2,181 delegates to have a majority????? You cannot show me or any of the HRC supporters, but we can show you where HRC will by the 15th or the end of Feb. have a majority of delegates to be our nominee.....

You wanted a bear then HRC is the damn grizzley in this campaign......

89. I'm so disappointed
I feel almost as badly tonight as I did when 2004 was stolen. I'm with many here in that I can't see anything to get excited about in an Obama candidacy. I'll keep trying, but swear to God that I don't see what his supporters are seeing.
