re: the Iowa Caucus
when does the Caucusing begin and when should we be getting results? Is there any indication from previous years when we'll know which candidate is dancing in the streets and which candidate is crying in their beer?

2. Begins at 7 pm central time
The number of delegates should be decided by 8:30 or 9 at the latest. Results should be out shortly after.

6. Sometimes the results are never known
Seriously.

In 1988, the networks called the state for Dick Gephardt based on a botched set of exit polls and some dubious hard tallies. About six months later, some folks looked into the more complete and detailed data and discovered that Paul Simon probably received more support on caucus night.
