Those of you who had the horrendous gall to call Wes Clark a
Republican, and are now standing here supporting Ralph Nader who IS not a member of the Democratic Party are the modern day plague of progressive politics.

There is no welcome mat for you here, and you should leave.

If you don't like all the shit that's falling on your head right now then all I can say is

Payback is a bitch.

Get used to soon becoming homeless....

Well, Free-Republic will take you I'm sure. That's where you really need to be anyway.

You're traitors to your own cause, so sleep well tonight.

27. Here's some venom for you....
From the rules:

"If you wish to contribute to the defeat of the Democratic candidate for president, then you are welcome to use someone else's bandwidth on some other website. As the election season draws closer, we may expand this rule to include Democratic candidates for other political offices.

Democratic Underground may not be used for political organizing activity by supporters of any political party other than the Democratic party. Supporters of certain other political parties may use Democratic Underground for limited partisan activities in political races where there is no Democratic party candidate."

Trying to sell your justification for voting on a third party progressive ticket is paramount to organizing opposition to the Democratic Party Candidate.

24. Great Question
Edited on Mon Feb-23-04 10:35 PM by HFishbine
Kerry has signed on to some of the policies of the Progressive Policy Instisute -- it's not a dirty word. And not perfectly defined either. I tend to think of it as a pragmatic approach to acheiving liberal goals without rejecting traditional values just because they are traditional. Keep what works, change what you can when and where you can, but keep improving.

Nader-supporting posts -- as in "I'm voting for Nader." Some people seem to be ticked off, however, at posts refuting the notion that he cost Gore the election or defending his right to run. Where do you want to draw the line?

THE SUPREME COURT, REMEMBER!?!? Why aren't you people fucking creating some fancy-smancy emoticon regarding Justice Scalia writing in his opinion of Gore v. Bush something along the lines of "we must stop the vote counting because then said petitioner would contend the election..." or something like that.

Oh no, all I hear here at the DU is what the media has said: That fucking Ralph Nader did it. You know, 50% more votes in Florida went uncounted in 2000 than even voted for Nader.

So rethink your positions. And focus on the real problem: the oligarchy in Washington.

22. Indeed, Mr. Florida
A very large proportion of those who have alibied for Wrecker Nader's previous effort, and spoken in support of this one, have spent a good deal of time previously calling just about every prominent Democratic Party office holder and official "enablers" of Republicans, and have, as a matter of fact, aimed far more vitriolic comment against Democratic Party members here in this forum than they have against the criminals of the '00 Coup.

The fact is that some people who consider themselves exemplars of the left share a common goal with the reactionaries gathered under the banner of the Republican Party, namely, the destruction of the Democratic Party. Since coalitions are formed by identity of interest rather than identity of principle, these people find themselves, as a matter of practical fact, in open alliance with the Republican Party just now. They may wriggle at the plain statement of this truth, and protest shrill and long at hearing it, but the one thing they cannot do is sensibly deny it, for there is no question of the commonality of desire to destroy the Democratic Party both groups share.

"Kill one, warn one hundred."

"LET'S GO GET THOSE BUSH BASTARDS!"

30. Shut UP! How can you ask people to be consistent? Didn't you
read directive 12343 in the Authoritarians Guide to One- Percenterism? It states clearly: "Former military personnel are Republican, regardless of their intent to unseat a republican in an election or the progressiveness of their positions."

Directive 456344 (Special lifetime progressive status for Ralph Nader) states: "Whereas Ralph Nader shall be henceforth deemed progressive....none of the following...shall cause him to Our Fearless Progressivisimo:

1) Enabling right wing Administrations by depriving their chief opponents votes

2) Profiteering from any or any combination of the following corporations: Merk...Wal-Mart....Viacom.

3) Preventing workers from unionizing at....organization controls.

3) Displaying symptoms of megalomania...."

I'm not a Nader fan but the man was working his butt off for issues close to Democratic hearts, way back in the 60's. Clark wouldn't even admit publicly to being a Dem---why not?---until late last year.

Without Nader's example of what a thankless task it is to be an independent, people like General Clark would have to learn the hard way.
