Poll question: How would you vote on a bill designed to protect the identity of victims of sexual abuse?
Edited on Mon Dec-24-07 03:33 PM by Lirwin2
Lets see how many Obama supporters vote "Present" on a bill like this, just like their leader did while he was in the state legislature.

2. I see you again have nothing worthy to say about your candidate.
Edited on Mon Dec-24-07 03:35 PM by babylonsister
I'm not in the least bit surprised. But I think you will be, and soon!

And BTW, is this another topic you're going to beat over the head ad nauseum? :eyes: We've 'been there, done that' numerous times.

6. Nah, maybe your inability to research your own candidate is why you support him

11. Is that who "a bill" is about? Or should we vote blindfolded?
Like some people voted for the IWR?

8. Oh this opens up a whole emotional can of worms for me
It is a disgrace that in our 'modern' society it is still a stigma to be a victim of sexual abuse. I voted yes. But I am not an Obama supporter...does my vote count?

7. It would depend on the bill
Edited on Mon Dec-24-07 03:47 PM by tammywammy
edited to add: Since things aren't always so black and white, I didn't vote in the poll.

12. What is the bill itself?
If it also included yet more spending for the occupation of Iraq or additional protection for the telecom industry, you can damn well be certain I would oppose it.

In Washington, bills are almost never as black-and-white as the issue you present for polling.

16. It depends entirely on the bill.
There are people who get away with sexual abuse because their victims are afraid to come forward. There are also people who make false accusations of sexual abue for a variety of reasons. A good law would have to balance these interests. I can't answer the question based on the information given.

And incidentally, I have served as an expert witness in cases of both sorts.

18. For such a bill because ...
Edited on Mon Dec-24-07 03:59 PM by Onlooker
I understand the victim would have to petition the court. Thus, I presume if there are unusual circumstances (such as a highly controversial or nationally publicized case), the court would be able to evaluate the situation.
