He's a racist. There's just too much evidence of that to ignore; from his newsletter about blacks and crime, to his Op/Ed in the LA Times and his opposition to the Civil Rights Act.

He's pro industry in a way that would leave business to completely rape the environment. He believes in drastically lowering taxes on business. How on earth people can think he's anti-corporation when he wants to do such things as dismantle OSHA, is beyond me.

He's an isolationist. Good when it comes to ending the war, but that's actually incidental in his overall world view. He doesn't have any use for the U.N. He'd never sign on to any climate agreements. He'd suspend all aid, including aid that helps fight disease in third world countries. Good for ending the drug war and funding Israel and Egypt. Bad for everything else.

He's a fundy. And his reasoning behind criminalizing abortion is the same as all the other fundies.

He'd favor the rich and starve the poor without blinking an eye.

There is no reason at all for any democrat, any progressive, any liberal, to support him.

And yes, it's obvious that quite a few here are slightly enamoured with him.

1. I don't think there's any harm in cheering him on, because there's

no danger of him winning anything. I do think that anything that can be admired in Ron Paul can be found in at least some of our candidates, so I don't get the weird obsession with him. I guess Democrats espousing a certain position is expected and boring, but a Republican who does it is BRAVE! and REVOLUTIONARY!

2. I wouldn't be so comfortable. He raised $6M in a day; he does have
his supporters, as ill-informed as they might be. Unless they actually agree with his spiel.

4. Ron Paul
Now that the country has finally decided that huge govenment spending and expensive wars are bad things, the GOP conveniently has a Republican who can fix everything. How convenient; they work both sides of the street at the same time. They profitted from the bloated defense contracts and tax cuts; now that the pendulum has swung the other way, they'll provide the direction to make sure everything stays under control.

5. It is a bunch of theatrics or stupidity or both.
People know how crazy it is, but they don't care or something.

6. yeah
I agree..

I was at the Democratic debate outside in Philly back in october.. and a TON of college kids like myself were all there with huge Paul signs, and I feel like they truly aren't aware of what he has done in the past- like I was for a long time. The more I researched him, he only has about 2 things that are worthy that he supports.

I dont think many college kids supporting him truly have read his past statements- they just are convinced by a few of his major ideas.

8. I'm convinced the only people who support Ron Paul are kneejerk idiots.
They've bought in to the media delusion that democrats are an out of touch, tax and spend elitist party, yet they don't want to vote for a neo-conservative because they KNOW the damage they've done. So instead of voting in their best interest and voting democratic, they vote for ron paul because it makes them feel tough.
