I am absolutely delighted the media is beginning to report on "present" votes
Edited on Fri Dec-21-07 06:21 PM by calteacherguy
and how they are used by the Illinois legislature. This should finally put and end to this desperate line of attack coming from Camp Hillary.

Thank God we have a free press to dig for the truth.

1. How is the press (or Obama)
explaining all the "present votes" in the US Senate?

4. There are no "present" votes in the U.S. Senate.
Different system entirely.

7. Just missing votes
--and my question stands --why so many missing votes? Only McCain has missed more.

8. He's been busy running for President for one thing.
That's very important. More important than any Senate vote unless it's a potential tie-breaker.

9. meh.
If Biden and Hillary could vote on a bill, I see no reason Obama couldn't.

It's especially important, as Obama tends to use his non-vote to counter against a Senator who had the courage to vote.

13. I respectfully disagree with this, his JOB is representing his district and that includes voting,
even on frivolous things, like it or not.

10. Not true. Biden has missed more as well. Dodd has missed the same number
And Edwards and Kerry missed more when they were running in 2004.

So it's a BS issue spread by Hillary just because she didn't have to miss as many votes on account of her being the frontrunner and already well known.

Not attacking you or Obama on this, but do you REALLY believe the above statement?

5. I do.
Despite it's flaws, our press is still somewhat free. We do need to break up the monopolies and corporate influence, but the internet and other outlets do help to provide somewhat of a balance, at least.

11. like i said many times
there`s nothing like state politics in this country. i find it odd that many people here do not understand how things are done on the state level. course i`ve been watching illinois for the last 40 some years so this "big issue" here at du just makes me laugh.

do`t tell anyone but the guy who is his "best friend" in the state senate that helped each other get bills passed is a moderate republican that even the democrats in his district thinks he`s about the best republican in the state senate...see obama is no different than the republicans:rofl:
