Dowd criticizes Limbaugh for criticizing Clinton's looks; then goes on to criticize Clinton herself
Edited on Tue Dec-18-07 11:56 PM by antiimperialist
Tonight Maureen Dowd repeated word by word what Rush Limbaugh said about Hillary Clinton after showing an "unflattering picture" of her that Drudge posted in his website. But Dowd was simply looking for the opportunity to criticize Hillary not on the issues or on the looks, but on another trivial matter:

Hillary doesn’t have to worry about her face. She has to worry about her mask. Back in the ’92 race, Clinton pollsters devised strategies to humanize her and make her seem more warm and maternal. Fifteen years later, her campaign is devising strategies to humanize her and make her seem more warm and maternal.

The public still has no idea of what part of her is stage-managed and focus-grouped, and what part is legit. It’s pretty pathetic, at this stage of her career, that she has to wage a major offensive, by helicopter and Web testimonials, to make herself appear warm-blooded.

What a crappy columnist Maureen Dowd is.

Don't you agree?

1. Dowd's right. I could care less about Clinton's face; everyone
who is running is exhausted, I'm sure. But her current 'humanizing' schtick is too little, too late imo. She's tough, not soft and warm. To try to convince people otherwise is not true.

2. her humanizing schtick is not an issue
It's not health care, it's not Iraq, it's not immigration.
It's unimportant gossip.
if a candidate seems tough and wants to give me health insurance, bring him/her.

3. It is to her. It's bogus, but that's what she's being told to do.
Look around. I could find a link for you, but I'm pooped. That's the newest Hillary, and unimportant? Why is her camp pushing it then?

And BTW, what IS the issue, to you? Mine is this godforsaken illegal occupation that needs to end.

4. You're right, she is tough, and she should play that asset up big time.

5. The problem is she's also a craven triangulator
If she actually trusted the electorate enough to present a true picture of herself, she'd probably get a lot more support. Perhaps even from me.

8. He was only pointing out her 'true' face

9. What is it that MODO has against HRC? "I don't understand
Maureen Dowd. She’s obsessed with gender herself, but then she accuses Clinton of playing the gender card. She makes fun of some men for being too macho (Cheney, Rumsfeld, Bush), but she makes fun of other men for not being macho enough (Gore). She criticizes Hillary Clinton for making too much of her womanhood, but then she criticizes her for being too ambitious (isn’t it antifeminist to think that women shouldn’t be “ambitious”?). She insults men by asking, “Are men necessary?”, and then she wonders why she can’t find one. Yeah… it must be their fault that they can’t put up with her.

Does Maureen Dowd like anyone? Does she even know what she wants?"

10. What does EVERYBODY have against her?
Despite all the hype about how HRC has the press in her pocket, the truth is that I can't think of a single columnist, talking head, important liberal blog, newspaper or network that supports Hillary. On the contrary, every single one of them seems to attack her relentlessly. In the last week alone, pounds and pounds and pounds of insulting words have been aimed at her by the ilk of Dowd, Tweety, Timmah, Arianna, Kos, etc., etc., etc.

The MSM absolutely hates the Clintons and always have.

Which -- because I despise our national press -- is one reason I've always liked Hill and Bill.

12. That's her trademark
She doesn't like anyone, and will make fun of everyone.

That's always been her identity as a writer.
