64. I'm going to say it. There is a CHANCE that this may not turn out to be false.

I didn't really think up until this point that Edwards had an extramarital problem. But we know a couple of things:

First, there was that story a couple of months ago about an alleged Edwards affair. Allegedly he met the woman in a bar in NYC. Many people will tell you that story was "debunked" which is too strong a word: it was "debunked" when the woman in question, a Rielle Hunter, denied it. That takes some air out of the story, but that's hardly a debunking - "get Rielle" one might almost say. And now there's this one about a pregnant woman out there, allegedly impregnated by Mr. Edwards.

Second, I think, and a lot of non-Edwardsians agree, that Edwards has character issues - basically, he's a little bit much of a do-anything-say-anything overly ambitious adventurer type. A toot-your-own-horner. A phony at a level far beyond the normal background phoniness of most politicians. A little too much of a huge-housed egotist getting his jollies. Now such a man doesn't at all HAVE to have a voracious appetite for sex, but such men often do.

Seriously, I'm just saying: I doubt this will turn out to be true. At the end of the day, I'd still put my money on the idea that John's bimbo eruption score after this has played itself out will still be a perfect 0. But I'm not willing to say it can't be possible. Given the ways of the world, stranger things have happened. Far stranger.
