The Democratic establishment love black people...err...until one of them challenges them

If the Republicans made those slanderous slurs about Obama's heritage, most everyone on DU would be calling Republicans the typical racists that we know they are. But when Obama is challenging none other than a Clinton, the leader of the Democratic establishment, they are stooping to even worse levels than Republicans.

It's not so much just the Clinton, but all their surrogates like Kerrey. They Clintons have done nothing but use black people for to keep them in power. I expect them to be negative in terms of policies, but the gutter bucket politics and smear that they are doing is worse than the Republicans. They are no different. I wouldn't be surprised if Hillary launches an ad morphing Obama into Willie Horton. They will let no one step in the way of their ascent to power and will do ANYTHING to stop Obama, even if it's something racist. They don't care. And it's disappointing cause I used to be their biggest supporters. I expect smear politics out of the GOP. I never would've expected it from none other than Bill and Hillary Clinton. Bill Clinton used to be a political idol of mine, but now he's showing his true colors and it'll be a glorious day when they are both knocked down on their asses.

It's also sad to see so many on DU continuing the smears. I've learned that liberals can definitely be just as racist as conservatives, but with a wink and a pat on the back instead.

2. The Torturous Death Of Mel Gibson, Sir?
The nearest thing to a highlight in that waste of a couple of hours, and of course, they did not even approach the true routine of hanging, drawing, and quartering....

3. Slanderous slurs?
His middle name and his schooling in Indonesia are "slanderous slurs?"

I can't wait to see how you try to sell that one.

5. The lie that he attended a 'madrassa' is a foul one.

7. Your links have it wrong
Madrasah in Indonesia and the Arab world means "school." Thus, Kerrey is correct, he attended a secular school.

It is only in the West that the word Madrasah has been recently perverted, by rightwingers, to imply, wrongly, some kind of Islamic fundamentalism.

Kerrey was correct. You are in error. A "madrasah" is a school, either secular or religious.

9. context is important
I know what you're trying to say, but there is some background to this. You can be factually correct and still take a dig at someone, take a look at a Drudge Report headline every once and while and youll see what I mean.

I'm not convinced that Kerrey was either innocent or malicious, but I am certainly skeptical of his motives in saying what he did. It wasn't a backhanded compliment per se, but something similar.

10. He said something similar six months ago in very glowing terms about Obama
it is patently absurd to ascribe motives to someone without one shred of evidence. All the evidence, including the meaning of the words Kerrey uttered, are completely contrary to what some Obama partisans here are trying to infer.

4. Personally...
I think this is getting blown out of porportion. One thing's for sure though, I don't see any unity possible, at all out of either Obama, or Hillary.

which is why things will get really interesting if Obama wins Iowa and/or New Hampshire. Many black voters are waiting to see if whites will really vote for a black candidate for the nomination. If that happens and the Clintons continue with fear and smear heading into the SC primary, where blacks account for half of the Democratic voters, watch out.

The Clintons understand this, and, as many of the Feb. 5 states also ride in no small part on the minority vote, they want to nip this thing in the bud. They want to go back to black voters and say, see, he has no chance, and many of them will probably go along with it, even if their views of the Clintons have been permanently tarnished as a result.

8. Who cares about this stupid crap
Why was Dodd the only candidate in Washington for the goddamn FISA filibuster?

And I really don't care that voting "not present" is the same as "no." Lame excuse. :grr:

12. Because they all had a plan...
go find my thread called "Dodd filibuster 4:55 PM"...there was no filibuster. They tabled it until Jan, and I think it was all part of the plan. But you have to read the thread for the info.

11. You absolutely nailed it!!
I feel personally hurt, insulted and angry, once again we are taken for granted...this crap must cease.
The Democratic Party needs me, more than I need it!
This black person voted for Bill twice and admired Hillary...until now and never again, I learned the hard way!
How low will they go? :-(

13. Nobody is taking the black vote for granted!
But that doesn't mean that we should all jump in the Oprabama circus and vote for a guy who a lot of us think is not qualified to lead the nation at this point in time. Get it? It has nothing to do with his race or whether he's Muslim, Christian or Amish. I will not vote for a guy who is all talk, but has very little to back it up.

18. Sure people are taking the black vote for granted
It's been said that the Dems. take the black vote for granted and the Repubs. ignore them.

The Democratic party knows that the majority of Blacks will not go over to the Republican party. Where does that leave them, voting Democrat regardless of the policies.

A big eye opener for many African American voters was the inability to get one Senator to sign off on the request for investigation of Florida's voting abnormalities in the 2000 election.

14. Not just any "challenger", just THIS one. He's not ready yet.
There are other more experienced congressmen and women of black ancestry who are currently more ready than he is.

than Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, John Edwards and any of the other white candidates running.

So why does the black candidate have to be THE most qualified black person ever in order to run while any white candidate who chooses can run without being judged as less experienced than other white people who have decided not to get in the race?
