Steve King (R-IA) endorses.....Uncle Fred

Iowa Rep. Steve King has endorsed fellow Republican Fred Thompson for president.

Thompson, a former Tennessee senator, said in a statement today that he looks forward to working with King leading up to the Iowa caucuses on Jan. 3 and "into 2008 in support of the traditional conservative values he and I share."

King has taken a tough stance on illegal immigration, and a recent measure he proposed to punish companies that hire illegal immigrants won Thompson's support. Under the measure, businesses could not take a tax deduction for wages paid to an illegal immigrant.

Steve King was the author of the "Christianity is good" resolution which the House approved last week. Should bring dozens more voters into the Thompson camp.
