Derogatory Words Aren't Meant To Be Nice, You Know
Edited on Sun Dec-16-07 11:30 AM by Magic Rat
Kerry was called elitist, snobbish, aloof.

Gore was called wooden, dull, stiff.

It happens.

They're meant to be mean words that put down someone.

If someone takes offense to a term used to describe a candidate you support - guess what -

T H A T W A S T H E F R E A K I N G P O I N T

Thank you.

1. Team Hillary still expects everyone to fall into line and kiss her feet
and when that doesn't work, its a sexist work.

2. Perhaps the best course
is not to answer them. Only answer those who say something you know to be untrue, and when you do, cite sources. If you are unsure, but think the poster is incorrect, ask them to cite sources.

4. Ummm, we are talking among Democrats here, right?

Not all conscious uses of negative words are acceptable, right? Not if they play on institionalized injustice or predjudice, right? For example, we might in good faith argue over whether calling Richardson a liar is appropriate but not over whether calling him a spic is, right?

It is so much easier to demonstrate this principle if we plug in racist toned derogative words rather than sexist ones. If someone said that Obama "shuffled around" like a man without a moral compass, do you think that would go unchallenged?
