Hillary running a Rovian campaign?
A woman on Hardball just said that it seems Hillary's campaign thinks the way to win is to use Bush tactics .. it's a huge mistake.

2. NO! I honestly don't think ANYONE is that bad! Remember the tricks
Rover pulled! Completely false push/polls, and remotely getting fringe groups to make stuff up on the opposition! Making past statements and actions of a candidate part of the campaign is NOT something new or Rovian!

3. HA! I just read on another thread that Obama is running a Rove-like campaign.
And earlier today, I saw something about Edwards' Rove-ish advisors.

4. She'll need every Democratic vote she can get if she's the nominee
and the way she is conducting her campaign basically ensures that half of next year will be spent rebuilding bridges within the party if she wins.

Then again, desperate times do call for desperate measures.

18. agree with the first part. so dumb...
and it's so strange, b/c apparently she's pretty intelligent, why is her campaigning so dumb. I'm baffled. Hopefully it gets better. It makes me nervous. if she freakin' wins the nomination, and loses, everything that happens over the next 4 years will be on her head.

6. The "drug use" angle is just as bad as a push poll or whisper campaign
Bill must have been taking notes when he spent all that time with Poppy ... And then this morning, she comes out and once again "apologizes" for the whole thing, and brings up (AGAIN) about how she's been "vetted" ... Methinks she doth protest too much. If you're SOOOO electable, why do you have to keep REMINDING people of it????

8. Ohhhh, I disagree with you! This is in public and up for discussion!
A push poll is done behind the scenes and by the time people realize what was going on, the damage has been done, and the voting is usually over!

"What will we do if the Repugs come after him about his COCAINE use?"

"What would you think of John McCain if you knew he had a black baby?"

It kinda feels like the same kind of slime to me....

13. The diff. is that the cocaine thing is in the public forum. I know I didn't hear
anything about the push/polls on McCain in SC until well after the voting was over! I live in Ga. so it's not like I was so far away I wouldn't have heard something, except those calls were made less than a week bofre the SC primary.

I think we all know politics is a "contact sport" and the leaders are going to get attacked by those who want the top spot. This kind of thing is not going to go away when the primary is over, it's going to get WORSE! Complaining about it won't make any difference, each candidate must decide how to handle those attacks. Unfortunately, the Pubs are much better at throwing the barbs than the Dems are, and the Pubs are also better at deflecting them! Look at all the dirt that surfaced about Shrub, but the people surrounding him AND the media simply made it go away!

I think we should focus on a strategy to squelch this and any future attacks on our candidate of choice in the Primary and the Dem candidate in the General. GOD knows Kerry and those surrounding him didn't do very well!

7. She compared Penn to Rove and said Hillary will lose if people see her
as running a Bush-type campaign. Basically exactly what we've been saying here for the past 24 hours. I hope Hillary is listening.

OK, off topic, but WTF is up with Tucker's hair? Its a pompador... is that a word??

15. She is correct.Hillary is using very poor judgement with Penn. Another reason not to
support her.Penn is of the Atwater/Rove school. And has perfected the art of personal destruction that Hillary allegedly loathes, except when turning it on fellow Dems!.

11. The Tonya Harding strategy. But Dem voters don't appreciate it like mindless GOPs
do who love overt powerplays instead of competent TALENT and rational debate.
