Just One Question Please?? Tell ME Why Getting Huggy, Kissy-Pooh With Repukes
is so wonderful! I understand it would be very nice if Americans can get along, but IS IT POSSIBLE right now????

What good has it done to do that "reach across the aisle" consensus thing?? How much has changed since 2006 when Democrats SAID they were going to stand up for this or that and have been beaten down almost every single time!! Do tell, what will happen when we do that "reach" thing? Seems to me, we are going to SINK even further!

I don't dislike Obama, but having him stand up and say all these things about "let's all come together and hold hands" or "let's go along to get along" doesn't seem practical at all. I'm tired of getting rolled and I wonder how much reaching he will do if he becomes our nominee. I'm sorry I DON'T trust Repukes even IF they aren't in power, and I'm not so sure this open heart policy will be beneficial.

Do I like fighting? Most certainly not, but tell me what will all the "huggy-kissy-Pooh" stuff do??

1. It will keep the Republican party alive, is what it will do
We have a chance at a realigning election, and the media wants a truce.

Typical stuff, and there's always a handy "unity" tool available to push lets-get-along whenever the pugs are in trouble.

2. I want a realignment, not a truce.
There is no truce with Republicans.

We are on the same page here.
Obama is borrowing language from the right wing on Social Security and faith. He's a real charmer. :puke:

I think that's a valid criticism. My guy's not perfect, sadly, but still the best.

6. have you explored the alternative?
what do you think will happen with 4 more years of partisanship, this time favoring Democrats? you'll eventually get the same graft, same complacency, same incompetence, nepotism, and cronyism you've seen with the Repubs. our Dems aren't exactly all saints. they are mortals and when one party is in power and as partisan as the Bushies have been, we know what will follow.

We can't complain about the politicization of the DoJ if we would do the same thing, except aimed at progressive causes. We can't complain about the Repubs locking Dems out of committee meetings if we would do the same if we were in power.

Obama wants to be better than they are. You sound like you want us to just turn the tables on the Repubs and let them have a taste of their own medicine. In effect, we would be like them.

Do I misunderstand your position?

9. Of Course They're Not Saints... Can you Say Rostinkowski??
I'm just saying that going in we need to go in with STRENGTH and conviction that we won't be rolled. Saying you want cohesion IS NOT something Repukes understand and they aren't likely to "play nice" anyway!

You do realize there will be some Repukes left, and if THIS Congress doesn't get more GRIT, there may be more than we want. I like getting along, I don't like getting rolled.... ANYMORE!

If it were up to me, I'd be out on the streets shouting REVOLUTION, like 5 years ago!

17. It's not about being nasty, it's about being FIRM. Yes, when our party is in power we have the right
to make sweeping changes to the horrible reforms they've instituted for the past 8 years. Like with children, we can be loving but firm. This reaching across the aisle thing is not going to work because they will not work with us.

If they keep going to the right, and we keep meeting them in the middle, guess where we end up? Or just look at where we are.

8. Because "fuck the other guys, we're in power and we'll do what we fucking want"
served the country very well from 2000-2006, and led to a permanent Republican majority.

13. Exactly
Any successful president must reach across the aisle. A divided country cannot move forward. There are Republicans a Democratic president can work with. Nothing great has ever happened in this country (from the legislative branch) without reaching across the aisle. It's reaching across from a position of strength - but you must reach out.

16. Republicans are our neighbors, friends, family and countrymen.
Good ideas come from all directions and sources. There is a name for someone who believes that only his ideas are valid and that winning an election means being able to force those ideas on the nation. That name is Rush Limbaugh.

18. Nothing You Say Is Incorrect... I Myself Prefer A "Kill Them With Kindness"
approach, but I still ask what good has it done? Is the Idiot STILL getting his way?? Are the Democrats standing up OR even following through with their comments??

Didn't Pelosi say very recently that there will be NO MORE MONEY for the War?? Gee, I think the people coming out smelling like a rose are BFEE! He got the money and I bet he's going to get even more! He says he'll VETO whatever and the Dems slink away. Tell me who's "smirking" or not. Even if they don't have votes to over ride, sent the DAMN THING BACK! Show something! Despite what is being said about Repukes losing in THIS GE I'm not sure that's a given. They play dirty and don't mind who they hurt while doing it. But they WIN!

Reaching across the aisle is noble and good when you have a certain amount of trust that you aren't going to get stabbed in the back! Do you think the Democrats are scoring any points these days? We've posted and posted and posted about them "growing a spine" and I think we're still sitting at ZERO! I happen to think that the Democrats look very "wimpy" to me and "being nice" and reaching across the aisle is making them look even worse. And I'm a Democrat! I'm not a happy camper and have stated that after this GE, I just may not involve myself with being an activist anymore because I'm sick of being beaten down by a man in power who can barely string a sentence together! A man who has made other countries laugh at us, and yet he's still standing and he's "smirking' bigger than ever!

I'm just not getting that huggy-kissy-pooh feeling... it's more like I want to throw something at my TV when I see him. So to have a nominee who is "glitzy" and appears above the fray doesn't make me feel all that confident. And I don't dislike Obama, I just think it's not going to be so easy to "make nice" simply by saying it!

Tell me, when you were in high school... did you want to run with the "nerd" or be a part of the popular football crowd who lied as they smiled?

19. No. Wrong. What good ideas do Republicans have? Name ONE.
These people are not my neighbors, luckily they're not my family, and they sure aren't MY friends. You know, you might have members of the Klan in your neighborhood or in your family, does that make their ideas valid?

The world isn't black and white: you don't have to be an unfocused, waffling, stand-for-nothing, coward OR Rush Limbaugh.

And if you think that Republicans are going to work with us or consent to progressive reforms then you have not been paying attention for the past four years.

22. My Point Exactly!! As A Liberal & A Person Who Always Wanted To Lend
a hand to anyone who needed it, I am ashamed to say that I've become extremely cynical. I DON'T like it, I DON'T want to feel this way, but my instincts tell me that I NEED to be my own watch-dog! I feel a need to question things I never thought I would. But I don't think I was the one who CREATED this "reality" that I live with!

I'm not the "Mickey will eat anything" anymore, for those of you who may remember that commercial. So, if those of you who feel that this election is about a back-yard Bar-B-Que or a meet and greet, you can count me out!

I WANT ACTION, not pablum!

in order to pass racial profiling legislation and legislation that requires taping of interrogations in murder cases.

Is that kind of ability valuable to you?
