Get to know Joe Biden

To the Editor:

I am Dorothy Phelps. I feel strongly that the 2008 presidential election will be of the greatest influence on our country of any we’ve experienced in the last 70 years.

I have seen and heard six of the seven Democratic candidates since mid-July. We are fortunate to have all of these great candidates appearing around us. We’ll be proud to have any one of them as the nominee.

The candidate I find to be most outstanding and qualified, my choice and for whom I will caucus is Senator Joe Biden. Mr. Biden has been a positively great senator from Delaware. He’s worked on hundreds of important committees and at the present time is chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee. He was a notable United States player in establishing the peace in Kosovo. He doesn’t hesitate to reach across party lines to solve problems or pass laws.

Our next president must be someone who exhibits international respect on behalf of the U.S., and in turn, will work to get the respect back for our country that we once had.

I believe Joe Biden is the best person to do this.

Joe Biden has a very warm personality. He has a beautiful smile and a great sense of humor. He is a quality family man. He knows how to talk to people in all walks of life; he has visited with the poorest and the mightiest of foreign countries. He’s been to Iraq and Afghanistan numerous times and has camped amongst our soldiers.

He is not a man of great wealth, he’s running one of the least expensive campaigns of any of the candidates. He’s not getting the publicity as the top three candidates are - he stays in Washington where his job is.

I know Dorothy and know that she has given considerable thought to this choice. I applaud her for the effort she has put in to coming to this conclusion. Guess I will see her at the caucus in a couple weeks.

8. No - I doubt it. We actually talked over the candidates about a month

ago. She was very thorough and very concerned about just how important and serious this caucus is.
