Obama Camp Hits Hillary Over Campaign Official Who Brought Up His Past Drug Use
By Greg Sargent - December 12, 2007, 5:12PM

The Obama campaign has just slammed Hillary for an interview her New Hampshire co-chair Billy Shaheen gave earlier today, in which he brought up Obama's past drug use and used it to question Obama's electability by suggesting the GOP would attack him for it. Here's the statement just out from Obama campaign manager David Plouffe:

“Hillary Clinton said attacking other Democrats is the ‘fun part’ of this campaign, and now she’s moved from Barack Obama’s kindergarten years to his teenage years in an increasingly desperate effort to slow her slide in the polls. Senator Clinton’s campaign is recycling old news that Barack Obama has been candid about in a book he wrote years ago, and he’s talked about the lessons he’s learned from these mistakes with young people all across the country. He plans on winning this campaign by focusing on the issues that actually matter to the American people."

Still no word form Camp Hillary on this.

8. No Need to Comment?

Her New Hampshire co-chair went on the record and said, "Was Obama a drug dealer?" The Hillary campaign's shenanigans are truly the bottom of the barrel.

3. The implosion continues
I think somewhere along the line somebody over at the Clinton headquarters got mad at Obama for "making things difficult for Hillary." They saw his speech at the JJ dinner, and they asked, "Who is this kid? Why didn't he wait his turn," and they got mad. And then they threw a total tantrum. It's unbelievable because Hillary had this in the bag. All they had to do was stay above it, and they would've won. But now, they've sunk to the basement.

This will backfire big time. The Obama narrative is one of journey. Disclosing that he used drugs and wasn't happy with himself was the right thing to do. What did the Clintons want him to say, "I didn't inhale?" Nobody believed that. Bush was an alcoholic until 40, and basically admitted as much during the 2000 campaign. Didn't stop him.

Hillary's campaign is too focused on the petty politics of destruction that were important yesterday. They aren't important today, nor will they be important tomorrow.

10. "Shows the Hillary Camp has class" ROFL!!!
Bringing up his kindergarden "term paper" was the height of Klass. That's class with a K.

Now this...are the Clinton people THAT stupid to bring up drug usage? Do they want to be reminded of Bill saying he tried pot but didn't inhale?

Obama's drug use as a teenager was an admitted mistake on his part and he wrote about how he got away from doing it and recovered, plus he offers a lesson to young people that doing drugs is not the answer.

For the Clinton people to act like snitches and say he did drugs is the ABSOLUTE HEIGHT OF REPUBLICAN STYLE OF POLITICS. What a bunch of assholes...

11. lets see if i got this straight
Obama defends himself when attacked = he is whining
Obama ignores comments when attacked = he is weak and unable to fight back

Have i got the Hillary supporters mindset down correctly?

That seems to be two of the main charges i see against him by a number of supporters, how can anybody do the right thing if people have that mindset

28. A number of us talk about the US election yes
but not to many pay as much attention to it as i do(around where i live)

As to our news, they are not to informative but if something of note happens in regards to the candidates we tend to hear about it(editorials tend to have some more coverage on it but thats not news as such)

Of those paying attention around where i live a majority favors Obama, Clinton is fairly popular as well(tho they talk more about Bill then Hillary since he is very popular)

15. You missed one - first they accuse you of lying whenever TeamClinton gets caught
using slimy tactics like this. They act as if Hillary would NEVER stoop so low, and then when more news catches up and it proves to be a campaign strategy well, surely Obama or (fillintheblankDemname) deserved the hit.

I don't have a dog. If I did he never bit you. That picture is my dog, but he wouldn't bite. I don't have a dog.

13. You're not paying attention
The one who is whining is Hillary. That started after she was getting "beat up by the boys" in the Philadelphia debate. Ever since then, between the plants, the kindergarden snitch, this drug snitch and other greatest hits of assholedom, her campaign is sliding off the tracks.

Obama is getting his message out AND taking names from anyone that tries to play dirty politics. This is indeed where the "fun" begins.

Frankly, I'm sure you're a great person and we don't see eye to eye on the primary choice. But you have to admit she is getting pretty petty and inane with this whole "drug" thing. It will certainly backfire.

27. I wasn't aware Hillary made any attack here.
What I am aware of is that a comment about how Repubs might attack Obama in an interview from some campaign fella in NH is being called an "attack" by Obama.

It's what He does, and what his supporters do --call any little comment by Hillary or her people an attack.

THAT's his MO --that's his form of attacking.

16. How inspiring to
have someone admit they used drugs and learned from it. This is going to backfire like the kindergarten stunt did..now we're up to the teenage years..what next is lanny davis-bushite gonna come up with to further bog down their campaign, that's cemented in fear.. that the inevitable isn't so inevitable, anymore?
