IOWA CITY, IOWA -- “If you gotta be snowed in somewhere, Iowa City’s not a bad place to be snowed in,” proudly declared John Edwards outside the Hamburg Inn this afternoon.

Edwards visited the cozy restaurant in the heart of Hawkeye Country this afternoon after a brutal ice storm swept over the state and forced Edwards to cancel all three scheduled stops on his “Main Street Express” bus tour. The event was quickly put together by the campaign, who notified the traveling press of the event earlier this afternoon, throwing a bit of a curve in our impromptu snow day. The former senator shook hands with customers and employees inside the diner before stepping outside to talk with reporters.

"Yeah, I wish we could have had the events,” said Edwards. “But on the other hand we got plenty of time to have lots of events between now and the caucus.”

And what if we see similar weather on caucus night? Does it help or hurt Edwards’s chances?

“That’s a good question, and I don’t know the answer to that,” said Edwards, adding, “I think my supporters, my caucusgoers, are true believers in what we're trying to do to change the country. And I think they will be there on caucus night."

I'm glad all these candidates got a snow day...I hope they used it to get some well deserved rest. Have you looked at the campaign schedules? Take a good look at Edwards, Clinton, Obama, Biden and the rest...they all look exhausted!
