6. What definition of home state are we using?
Birth state? Last "major" office? Residence?

at the time was NYC. That was why I was asking which definition we were using. Nixon moved to NYC after his failed bid in 1960.

10. Well, there is a president who was born in a southern state,
has a presidential library in a mid-atlantic state, and whose home state for the election (I believe) was a northern state. Is that the guy?

Born in GA, has a library in VA, and home state in election was New Jersey, which he lost in the election.

15. Actually Wilson won New Jersey in 1912...
And lost it in 1916...so he probably should count... But I was not including candidates who were already President... So you get credit for that answer...

16. Has there been one since Wilson who won
the presidency (not including Gore, of course) without winning their home state?
