Will weather make a difference in Iowa and NH?
It's not unlikely that the weather will be bad in Iowa, NH or both on caucus/primary day. If it is, who benefits? Seems to me that bad weather in Iowa would be a boon for Edwards as he has formidable organization there. In NH, I'd guess that bad weather would help Clinton. And yes, weather does make a difference in elections.

1. Weather conditions have to be ghastly before NH stays home.
Ghastly=major ice storm or blizzard.

I'd say bad weather may suppress a Clinton turnout. Those of us voting for someone else will probably try our best to vote, our one chance to have a say.

2. Well, I'm familiar with your weather conditions in NH as I live in VT
but from what I've read, even a few inches of snow has a tendency to depress voting, and that the candidate who benefits most, is the one with the best GOTV organizations.

4. Well, down in the Iron Triangle, they could wimp out, but farther

north, not so much.

Yup GOTV does work, but bombing Hiram and Abby with phone calls doesn't; that just annoys them. It takes the personal touch to win hearts and minds, walking the streets, one on ones at church or the store.

Of course, the Triangle is now the dog's tail, but if it stays home and the rest of us dig our way to the polls, could be an interesting primary. But then, NH primaries usually are.

(typo as usual)

3. i think the weather alone won't be much of a factor
of course, i'm discounting a catastrophic storm. but, bad weather alone won't keep most of the people home - they'll get to the polls/caucuses somehow.

i think weather could play a role for any of the candidates if some gaffe happens prior to then, and they're support tapers off some - some people will stay home because of the weather then. but even then, i don't think it will amount to too much of missing voters.

just my take on the pride both Iowa and New Hampshire take their contests with.

5. It might impact Obama's plan to bus in students from their homes in Illinois to caucus in Iowa.
Weather won't matter to New Hampshire voters. A snow-day might even increase voter turn out.

6. I think this election is exceptional because people are looking
forward to having a person who isn't insane in the White House. That being the case, the weather would have to be a blizzard/ice storm of Biblical proportions to keep 4-wheel-driving New Hampshire voters home.
