Hard hitting journalism again: Candidates' first cars
New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton: A 1963 Oldsmobile Cutlass with a battery she kept in her law-school dorm on cold nights so the car would start when she needed it. (Now: A Ford hybrid, and Secret Service vehicles as former first lady)

Former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards: Plymouth Duster. (Now: Ford Escape hybrid, 2004 Chrysler Pacifica midsize SUV, 1994 GMC truck.)

Illinois Sen. Barack Obama: Grandfather's Ford Granada was the first car he used extensively. (Now: Chrysler 300C, a full-size sport-luxury sedan.)

New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson: Secondhand Ford Mustang. (Now: Official state vehicles and "Jeep Wrangler, although my security doesn't like me to drive."

1. Obama rolls a 300C?
He may not be a native South Sider, but he's learned quick.

3. I see the Rs mostly have erection-mobiles.
hopefully, thompson is not still driving

that 300 that obama drives is kind of a vanity gas-hog, isn't it?

7. The grill on the 300 is ugly, IMO, but I don't think it's a vanity car.
It's just an average 4-door sedan, not unlike my Impala, except the Impala isn't fugly.

The 300C is available with a V6 or there is a multi-displacement 8 cylinder that switches from 8 to 4 for cruising.

It's not Prius, but I wouldn't call it a gas hog, either. It's average.

4. I sure as hell am not voting for Obama now! He has less than zero automotive taste.

The Chrysler 300 is the ugliest damn thing that ever sat on four grossly oversized wheels. :puke:
But I guess if your first car was a Granada, you don't have a very good point of reference.

6. Good reasons to vote for Edwards or Richardson (and McCain, I must admit)
Haven't seen a Duster for years, which might not bode well, but I vaguely remember thinking it was cool at the time. Richardson's Mustang and McCain's Corvette need no explanation. But what's with Romney's Rambler? There is no possible justification. He should be banished to the doghouse merely for admitting to having owned that mutt.

9. I laughed about Hillary taking the battery out of the car
on cold nights. Now, why didn't I think of that when I drove around in my old Dodge Dart which also wouldn't start on cold days and needed a can of oil per week because no matter how many times they tried to fix it, it still refused to stop leaking.

11. I've been wondering about the personal choice of cars...
Anyone know what Kucinich drives?

What you drove used to mean something...this was years ago. I don't think it does today, unless its that 1000 HP Bugatti.
