FEC screws Edwards over ActBlue donations (no matching funds)
donations.

That is a lousy decision. Edwards should not be punished for this sort of thing.

1. There's a loophole large enough to drive a lawyer's limo though.
Return the $, and ask it be donated in a different manner.

2. But the article acknowledges that there may not be enough time for that.
Another tricky election law.

3. I guess when it's bad for the Democrats to be literal,
they are literal.

When it's bad for Democrats to be non-literal, they're non-literal.

4. I know that this was being talked about for awhile,
you've got to read the fine print on election laws. Someone in his campaign should have investigated this in the first place.

6. They knew this was a possibility the whole time.
They budgeted assuming they would not get the matching funds from ActBlue according to Politico.

5. This is bad news for Edwards
He was already in the money pit. The point of this is to stay away from Act Blue in presidential races.

7. Edwards is fine, they knew this was a possibility and budgeted accordingly.

8. If I make a separate $250 donation...
...can that be matched. My ActBlue donation was $2300, I would assume if I sent in another $250 at this point, it will be counted as being toward the general election and not eligible for matching during the primary season. I do not suppose there is a way to retroactively assign $250 from the previous donation as being for the general to get in a matchable primary contribution. Anyone know?
