Listen to Andrew Young endorse Obama
http://www.newsmakerslive.com/

"I want Barack Obama to be president," Young said, pausing for effect, "in 2016."

"It's not a matter of being inexperienced. It's a matter of being young," Young said. "There's a certain level of maturity ... you've got to learn to take a certain amount of (expletive)."

Young went on to say that Obama needs a protective network that he currently lacks _ a quality that could hurt him if he were to be elected. He said Hillary Clinton already has that kind of network, including her husband to back her up.

2. I love the way you guys are promoting this endorsement
He also says Bill is as black as Barack and has humped more black women. (OK, he said "gone with.")

This is one of the lamest public statements of support ever. Congrats.

for the hillary campaign. He was talking to Democrats about his personal choice and made some off color jokes. I think you make too much out of it. But a little laughing is good for one's health I've heard.

Edited on Sun Dec-09-07 06:32 PM by ClarkUSA
That was his idea of an example of what he called "the Clinton machine." Yesirree, he was making a lot of sense to those of us who know what
he was talking about. Wow, that's an endorsement of Shrillary's experience that I'd like to see in a campaign ad soon!

and call Hillary "Shrillary", then I'll just have to go to the same source and call your candidate an "empty suit". Two can play the same game........

Edited on Sun Dec-09-07 08:28 PM by ClarkUSA
Oh, the outrage from hypocritical Hillaryworld! Get sued to it, because Shrillary is a no-good rotten dirty trickster who has no core convictions
beyond her determination to have her coronation and integrity be damned when attacking Obama.

Say what do you think? Young really needs to make a campaign ad, eh? Bill has the morals of an alley cat and wouldn't know the truth if she sat
in his lap. Now that's the kind of co-presidency America has missed and is yearning for again!

32. I will never forget Andy Young in the halls of the U.S. Senate, accompanied by
two black women's group NGO reps (or heads), one on each arm, in a C-Span interview, while the Senators inside were debating the nominations of Condi Rice for Sec of State and Alberto Gonzales as Atty General. What Young said--with the women in agreement--blew me away. He said, in effect, that the Democrats who were opposing Rice were racist, that they opposed her because she black. That was Orrin Hatch's line--on both Rice and Gonzales, that the opposition was racist.

I remember Young from the civil rights movement in Georgia and Alabama in 1965. I was there as a volunteer in Martin Luther King's voter registration campaign, called S.C.O.P.E., a project of the S.C.L.C. Trying to vote in those days, if you were black, could get you lynched, get your house fire-bombed, get you beaten up, get your kids beaten up, lose you your job. It was highly dangerous, just to try to vote, and dangerous to be organizing people to achieve voting rights. Three civil rights workers had been murdered in Mississippi the summer before. Many obstacles, besides naked violence, had arisen to severely suppress the black vote, including poll taxes and literacy tests. S.C.O.P.E. volunteers were helping teach people to read and to overcome the obstacles to voting. Young was one of the leaders who mustered us northern volunteers out to the counties--made arrangements, gave us instructions. King, Young and others were great heroes of mine. The work they were doing was awesome, and extremely courageous. And I was so happy when Andy Young was later elected mayor of Atlanta--an almost unimaginable event in 1965--and then became UN ambassador in the Carter administration.

But something happened to Ambassador Young. Here he was, on C-Span, shilling for the Bushites--with an outrageous accusation against the political party that had come through for black voting rights and civil rights. Instead of calling the Bush Junta on its horrendous mass murder in Iraq, torture of prisoners, politicalization of the Justice Department and BLATANT SUPPRESSION OF BLACK VOTES in Florida, Ohio and elsewhere, he was mouthing Orrin Hatch's lines.

The contrast with Martin Luther King who called out the Johnson administration on the Vietnam War--no matter its support of civil rights--couldn't have been more stark. King was advised to shut up about Vietnam and stick to civil rights. But he would not ignore the terrible racism of that war (against "the gooks") nor the conscription of young Americans, including many black Americans, to fight in the jungles of Vietnam against a people who merely wanted their independence. His public opposition to the Vietnam War was quite possibly among the reasons he was killed. (I'm convinced that is why RFK was killed. MLK and RFK were assassinated within four months of each other, in 1968--with both of them having come out strongly against the Vietnam War during the previous year.)

Whether it's fear or corruption--or trauma--Ambassador Young is not the man he used to be. His Bushite remarks on C-Span were disgusting and made me immensely sad. And this tripe about Obama being "too young" strikes me as more of the same. A once great man brought low--by ambition, greed, fear or cynicism born of PTSD. The same was said of JFK--too young. It was an absurd charge then, as it is now. I am not a particular fan of Obama's, but I don't like to see dirty pool. And I'm appalled that Young is playing this game. Appalled--but after that C-Span interview--not surprised.
