Huckabee surging but how will the Wayne DuMond episode play out?
Edited on Sun Dec-09-07 09:40 AM by Hawaii Hiker
Remember how the Wille Horton episode help sink Michael Dukakis in 1988, well, Huckabee's "Wille Horton" is an even worse case...This in & of itself should destroy his candiacy...

Alot of interesting news here today:

"New Hampshire Republicans are a crusty bunch of libertarians and care much more about taxes and balancing the budget than the social issues"....

"His (Huckabee's) record on taxes was mixed. He lowered some and raised some. Many tax-cutting Republicans don't trust him on this issue".

"Huckabee has a Willie Horton problem in spades"...

"Finally, Huckabee's stand on immigration is going to hurt him with the Tancredo crowd when it becomes better known. As governor, he supported state-sponsored prenatal care for pregnant illegal immigrants and also supported the right of illegal immigrants to apply for state college scholarships if they graduated from an Arkansas high school. If you don't like Eliot Spitzer's idea of allowing illegal immigrants to apply for drivers licenses, you probably won't like Mike Huckabee's idea of allowing them to apply for state scholarships.

With his stand on taxes, crime, and illegal immigrants, Huckabee provides a target-rich environment for his opponents to toss mud his way when the going gets rough. Stay tuned".

1. Arianna Huffington, on AIR AMERICA yesterday, gave no indication that she

I don't think Huckabee's GOP opponents will hesitate to use this information against him, starting on Monday's ad cycle perhaps, as they all claw each other's flesh for the Republican nomination.

2. The GOP is in a panic--they do NOT want this fiscally liberal, religious wackadoodle
leading the party. They'll take him down, I predict--he'd do more damage to the party than Chimpy. What's funny is that all of the hand-wringing about Rudy's and Mitt's social moderate past has led to Hucky's rise--the base wanted gun and abortion purity, and they got what they wished for...and now the establishment is alarmed that this lightweight lunatic has risen to the top. It's a disaster for them. Couldn't have happened to a nicer party.
