Can we please stop this crap?
I mean, this playing pundit crap: who's "electable", what the polls are, who's endorsed by what celebrity? I just don't give a damn. I care about a candidates platform, not about their poll numbers, where they get their hair cut, if their suits fit, what their wives (/husbands, well, we know what he looks like) look like. Now, if we can please discuss differences in position, maybe pointless bickering could cease. I really, honestly mean it. Shit, I've been registered here for a few days, and I've already had a post deleted for... I don't know, being inflammatory, which I think is just me getting pissed and calling people out for supporting things that I don't like. I could rant forever about my positions, but I won't this time. I don't care what the polls say - I think we'd be better off without them. What purpose do they serve? I think we should just look at what all of the candidates are saying, compare it to their record in governance, then discuss/argue/etc.

Now I have to go lie in bed and listen to coast to coast tell me about bigfoot, which is way more real than poll numbers.

1. First welcome to DU harmonicon !
You ain't seen nothing yet.

Unfortunately, the media put's all of the bogus poll numbers out because they are trying to control the outcome of the nomination. The haircut shit and all of the other distractions.....same thing....trying to control the nomination.

One thing you left off of your list I am sick of...

I am sick of hearing about their religion.....I don't want to hear about it, I don't want it effecting their decisions....I don't want them pandering the the religious right so they can get their votes....

Isn't it apparant that religion is why our country is in the mess it's in now....The Neocon Agenda....has fucked America...every one pretends religion has not played a role in this catastrophe.....it has....

2. I have been following Presidential election campaigns for half of forever,
and I've never seen it get this, well, acrimonious. I've been told "this is politics", but I sure don't remember it ever being like this.

Oprah seemed to bring out the worst in people.

6. No offense...
but right now, there are 34 O&O topics on the home page...maybe some of them could be discussed in your group? I know I get tired and cranky from seeing the same candidate on the page, over, and over, and over.....just silly stuff too...take it to the group. That's what it's there for, and I bet you have more fun, and less fights, than you would here. But right now, O&O is overwhelming on the topic page....it really is.

Just a suggestion.....

7. If we took everything to the Obama section, then GD-P would just be full of anti-Obama stories

8. No it wouldn't.
If you're not here to....give them things to slam you on, it will stop. We took most of our conversations to our group last week, and it works. It just seems to me that O's are dominating the board...and when I came back in there were 2 new O' topics, so what is that now? 36?

9. Earlier today, around speech time
All there were, were anti-Obama/Oprah threads. I dont see how posting good stories about Obama gives them things to slam us on.

12. Well, then....
I guess the rest of us might as well go somewhere else...since you all want to dominate the board.

Have fun.

15. Proof of This is...
the fact that in the Biden Group, we have more posts BY FAR than any other group. We tend to avoid the infighting and discuss the issues. We don't always get along or agree with each other..but that's okay. We discuss the issues there and I believe that is the purpose of this board.

19. It's not up to you to decide where people post
There are very many days when another candidate has a big news story and multiple threads are posted on it. I live through it. You will survive Oprah. The groups are there for posting about candidates year round and when supporters feel like posting together. When there is an election, GDP is the place. You don't have to like it. I don't have to like it. I hate it when discussions are carried from thread to thread instead of in the original OP. But like it or not, DU admin has not chosen to make it an issue. They'd apparently prefer to let the story play out until the next one comes along and the next one will. You can bank on it.

16. It's This Bad Because We Have Such Weak Candidates This time, and Deep Down We all Know It
2008 should be our year, but our candidates are pretty much tied with theirs, and ties go to the Repiggies.

4. Welcome to DU, and the opinions that abound. You either defend
your point, or don't. Or recommend a thread without comment, which I wish wouldn't happen so much.
Lend your support, however you feel, is what I think.

11. The short answer is "no."
Any attempt to discuss issues right now is quickly co-opted, and will continue to be, until at least NH is done. My sincere suggestion is to post where you can and ignore any who hop in to change the subject/bash.

Welcome to DU. There is a lot of gold here, but you have to be willing to mine for it at the moment.
It will get better, in time.

And I'm pretty sure that bigfoot is stumping for Kucinich, should the show have a "call in" segment. I'm pretty sure I read it on one of the internets.

18. The horse race is exciting
Lots of people follow the horse race and want to talk about it. Its pretty easy to spot what a thread will be like to read just by the title. Welcome to DU and I hope you find threads you enjoy here.

I agree with you that hair or quality of voice don't matter. I don't see them talked about much though.

20. the horse race is exciting
what sickens me is that it seems all out of whack. people are talking about who they support based on who's "electable", and that sort of crap, instead of who they want, based on their platform. I have yet to see a poll changing, because I candidate has given a speech outlining their position on something such as healthcare. It's completely crazy to me.
