1. Damn,
no one wants to answer a simple question? Put politics aside for a second. Respond based on what you know (limited as it may be) about Oprah.

2. I don't know Oprah,
but I'd be surprised if she'd vote for Mike Huckabee, for example. At least, I hope she wouldn't.

3. I think she will bow out if Obama
doesn't win the nomination. She won't support another candidate, but I don't think she'll diss anyone, Dem or repub. That's my take.

7. Snub...
Would that be the same as ignore? Unless Obama would encourage her to support the Dem nominee, I can picture her ignoring him or her.

But I don't know Oprah. All I know is that she's crazy about Obama.

5. Why should she endorse someone she doesn't believe in?
Why so many questions about Oprah? Can't she just endorse the person she believes in and leave it at that?

I realize this place is in political posturing mode, but this is a simple question. Period.

14. She never supported Bush
Like I said, I do not understand what people's problem is with Oprah, or Obama for that matter. It's bizarre to turn on them and support Imus. Makes no damn sense at all.

19. No one is turning on anyone. Will she or won't she?
She can sway people whether it's kissing Bush or cutting off a war critic.

All I want to know is will she support the Democratic candidate. I hope she will!

9. I don't think she'll endorse anyone else
If you recall around the time she announced she was going to host a fundraiser, she stated she has never endorsed a candidate before and her decision to endorse Barack was influenced by knowing him personally.

12. It's an exceptionally good question.
Is she on our side against Republicans or just on Obama's side? What good is endorsement and help for a candidate if the help comes from someone who is not on our side? Good question! Very good question! If not for Obama, would Oprah vote Republican? If so, she can take a flying leap.

17. If she is going to endorse one of our candidates...
...she must make herself one of us. An endorsement from some "detached" entity who might vote Dem is worthless. Is Oprah against Republicanism?

Is Oprah against Republicanism?

That is the question. If not, she is at best worthless.

22. Why must she make herself one of us?
I recall my high school civics teacher saying that our vote is our vote, and I'm not required to tell anyone who I vote for.

If Oprah wants to say she's voting for Obama in this primary, that's her prerogative. I don't think she has to pledge public allegiance to the party to do so.

26. So we take an endorsement from someone ...
... who reserves the right to vote for a Republican? I don't think so. If she is not against the Republicans then her endorsement is less than worthless. I don't take endorsements from people who aren't Democrats.

29. I reserve the right to vote Republican, too.
It's the beauty of it all. I can vote for whoever I please. I read their policy papers, I check out their record. I tune out the BS from pundits, celebrities, and party hacks. Then I go to the voting booth and pull the lever for whoever I want.

You don't have to follow her and vote as she does. But you are saying she doesn't have any right to support Barack just because she reserves the right to privacy about any other candidates she supports. Well, that's your prerogative, but I take it you weren't voting for her guy anyhow.

30. Theoretically interesting only, but preposterous.
I reserve the right metaphysically to vote Republican too. But that won't happen in this world. You are splitting hairs. Don't hide behind our right to decide for ourselves to hide your decision. Who are you for? The Dem candidate or not? If not for the Dem candidate, whoever it is, we have nothing further to talk about.

31. For me, the choice isn't theoretical.
I hold the right to vote and my vote's privacy sacred.

And I don't believe a stated party affiliation is some kind of requirement for anyone wanting to make an endorsement. It's fine by me if that's a qualifier for you, but it's not for me. So we disagree.

Personally, I don't like when the media makes endorsements, so I don't like her endorsing candidates any more than I like the New York Times making endorsements. But she's hardly the first unaffiliated voter to make an endorsement.

asking the question and answering it has to trigger cries of ulterior motive.

She doesn't have to do a thing, but the question is will she or not? The fact is she often remains apolitical, and I think sometimes she gives the impression that Republicans or Democrats it doesn't matter.

25. I'm not saying she won't VOTE for a dem
But I don't think she'll put herself out there publicly for another dem. Think about it: She's taking a huge risk by doing so now. She wouldn't do so if she didn't believe in the candidate, just as I won't actively campaign for a candidate other than Obama. I'll vote for them, but I certainly won't travel to Iowa to knock on doors for them.

Does that call my patriotism in to question?

28. You aren't Oprah (I assume)
If she is going to endorse a Dem, she must be a Dem or her endorsement is worthless. I don't take endorsements from non-Dems for a Dem presidential nominee. She has to decide whose side she is on. If she is just saying she is on Obama's side but not necessarily our side, that is not even close to acceptable.

I do think that you have to vote Republicans out of power to be a patriot. They have gone nuts with racism and homophobia. They no longer care about country first. At best they are dupes. Republicans have lost it and practically ruined our country. Is Oprah against them? If not, to hell with her.

She can have her show and avoid risk to her precious self. No one is saying that. I want to know if she is on my side or if she is just indulging herself because of one of her precious personal relationships. Plain. Simple.

Is Oprah against Republicans or not?

24. she regrets having Bush on her show
that's one reason she didn't a show in 2004 with the candidates like she did in 2000. she felt that many who would not have supported Bush in 2000 thought it was ok to do so after he came on her show.
