3. Some of you all are far too hard on Oprah
She's done a lot of good in the world and had a great deal of success. Some here at DU are far too jealous of her.

6. Go read her message boards on her website.
It seems many of her sheeple are not happy with her attempt of"political manipulation"

of them. They truly are a bunch of Drama Queens, just like her

26. I would imagine much of her audience backs Hillary
but I say that with zero evidence, lol. So I'm not surprised her fans don't like who she endorsed.

Now she comes out the blue and tells us who we should nominate? No thanks.

Out in the real world people are going about their business. Please note that I am an Edwards supporter but I also support anyones right to endorse and try to help anyone they fucking want to support. If it comes from their heart then AWESOME!

5. It depends
She got them in the door. If they go out and caucus for him or get involved in the process then her job was well done.

10. I agree.
I don't get the impression that Oprah is going to be hanging with Obama on the campaign trail.

9. I'm sick of the whole enchilada -- all of them.
I've never seen a political campaign I disliked more. It might be more interesting if the "top tier" candidates weren't hogging all the attention with their haggling and stunts. I'd sincerely like to hear more from the others.

11. Lopsided poll...
because I don't think it'll have time to backfire. As far as what people are posting on her website...well this is the internet. And all of her viewers aren't even Democrats. So stop acting like everyone that likes her will be voting in the Dem primaries.

14. No way. Oprah is going to be the kiss of death for Obama or anyone else she adopts
Edited on Sun Dec-09-07 11:13 AM by mtnsnake
Granted, Oprah might unseat Hillary in the Primaries because she and Hillary both have such similar demographics as far as where the best strengths in their followings lie, but that doesn't meant that the entire country won't start wondering if someone is really qualified to run for President if the only way they can do is with Oprah's assistance.

24. Very true. Edwards actually paved the way for him
The Obama camp should be thanking Edwards from the bottoms of their hearts for showing them how to play the game.

13. Actually none of the above because of the way the Obama camp is handling Oprah, they
will be keeping her away from the M$M and only put her out when key opportune moments, before Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina simply because too much saturation will lead to overkill. Obama's camp really got their act together.

17. Obama's camp will "be keeping her away from the M$M"??
Well if the last few days are any indication of what we'll be seeing from the MSM, then Obama's camp has already failed miserably at keeping Oprah out of the spotlight.

23. I wasn't impressed from the beginning
Oprah is a great personality w/a big heart (and big wallet). She is involved w/her community and with charities and with helping people and on and on and on. But at the event she made it clear she was not involved in politics. Then she went right into tell us why Obama should be the next President of the United States of America. ????

I'm glad she did the rallies for Obama and I'm glad she raised a boat load of money for his campaign as well, but I'm not really inclined to go to Oprah Winfrey for political advice. (However, if I ever find out my birth mother is really my sister or if I write a book that is in need of national exposure...I'm giving Oprah a call).

34. I'm wondering if Oprah will
lose some of her viewing audience.....some people will not vote for Obama.....and don't want to be force fed his campaign.........Republicans surely will resent the fact that shes backing him.....time will tell if this will help or hurt her.......I remember when she raved about a book author..only.....he didn't write the truth,,,,,

35. I'm still in mind of some of her other projects that have flopped
Her movie Beloved for instance.. She puts a lot of heart into what she supports but sometimes it backfires. I think she just overdoes it.

I will be interested to see if there is a bump in the polls for Obama from this.
