Do you ever feel like a marriageable young person in the Middle Ages these days?
The MSM and the One Percenters who make the lion's share of political donations decide who our frontrunning candidates are going to be, and we get to pick one of them, just like in the Middle Ages parents presented their kids with several marriage options. Meet A, B and C under supervised settings, and pick one. Running off with Gypsy Davy was definitely not in the script, but it's what I would want to do, then and now.

We are facing Peak Oil, global warming, and a possible economic meltdown, but to be anointed as a frontrunner you must accept continuing US military hegemony over the rest of the world, even though we can't possibly continue doing it and still have the resources necessary to solve our most serious problems.

2. Gypsy Davy meant ...
leaving the protection of your family and putting yourself totally at the mercy of someone who might be good and decent...and might not. If not, there was no one to fight for you or shelter you.

It meant not having enough shelter, warmth, food, or clothes. It meant selling your children in a bad year.

Gypsy Davy has a charming glint and a good line. That ain't enough.

Juliet chose to defy her family with a boy much higher in class than Gypsy Davy. Worked out well?
