John Edwards for President
Wednesday, December 5, 2007

Chapel Hill, North Carolina – John and Elizabeth Edwards released the following statement about today's shooting in Omaha:

“Elizabeth and I are deeply saddened by today’s senseless violence in Omaha. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families and with the community as it begins to deal with the aftermath of this tragedy.”

4. Why so critical?
Will all of the candidates remember to say something? Or will some of them need to be kicked in the butt and reminded to issue a statement?

I find only compassion here. That is refreshing, in the midst of the primary wars.

8. Well there's a damned if you do, damned if you don't.
Heartless if you say nothing, publicity-grabbing if you say something. Personally, while I'm not an Edwards supporter in the primaries I'm inclined to believe they are sincere and it is entirely appropriate for someone in his position to make a statement. Certainly better than the dismissive condescending comment from Bush passed through the press secretary.
