to say he was fishing for a Secretary of State appointment?

Richardson and Biden are equally disinterested in VP and Secretary of State.

Likewise, if you asked Edwards or Obama about an appointment to the Supreme Court, I'm certain they'd say "no thanks," but if one win and makes an overture to the other about the Supreme Court, I doubt the answer would be a prompt "no thanks."

It is silly to expect a candidate running for office to field questions about other offices.
