Edwards is back on his game
I saw this interesting video clip this morning and just found the link again. It shows John Edwards panning Clinton and Obama for negative campaigning. Notice how he presents himself as the positive alternative while being critical. This being negative about opponents folded into a plea for the positive is what worked so well for him in Iowa last time. Nobody does this better than Edwards.

1. Panning them for negative campaigning? What a phony!
You're right--no one does phoniness and hypocrisy and flip-flopping like Edwards.

4. All that hate is gonna eat you up inside
Would it kill you to be just a wee bit more civil? Enough.

5. Yep, He's back to his old bag of tricks.
He's hoping that Obama and Clinton will be like Dean and Gephardt (the so-called negative ones in Iowa) who turned people off because they were so "mean" to each other. But it strikes me that pointing fingers at them is just a bit too transparent.

He's saying, "look at me! I'm the positive one! Remember back in 2003?
That's what you Iowans like! Right!?"

I don't believe that the people of Iowa would be so naive that they don't see what he is up to.

7. Exactly
He might pull it off, though. If he can charm the media, the way he did back then, to give him nothing but positive press leading into the caucus, he can come in first or second. My feeling is he's got to be first to do him any real good. But I also agree with your point that image confusion over this year could make Iowans skeptical.

8. Big difference
There is a major difference between what Edwards has done in explaining differences on votes, such as Senator Clinton's vote for Kyle-Lieberman and pointing out that she wont reject taking money from lobbyists and Hillary's attacks on Edwards, calling him a mudslinger, and Obama, in which she insulted his foreign policy experience, because he was abroad as a child. Edwards keeps the debate to the issues and I applaud him for it.

9. Good point liskddksil just as it is getting easier for Edwards to make
his points that are relevant and the ones people are concerned about. Hillary is kept too busy trying to justify her candidacy anymore as more and more questions keep rising about her.
