I just had a conversation with my sister, who lives out of state and is married to an R, even though he's a pretty nice guy. :-)
Generally, they're both fairly apolitical, I'd call them R leaning independents, and they both watched the debate last night...
Apparently they were underwhelmed, and my sister, who was "intrigued" by Romney and thought Guiliani "would probably be pretty good" is now firmly in the "anyone but any of these guys" camp....
HAHAHAHA...
Her take...
Guiliani, couldn't answer a question a straight to save his soul and what's with this cat fighting with Romney?
Romney, made Guiliani appear articulate, and he partook of way too much Grecian Formula.
Thompson, HDTV does him no favors and WTF does he want to roll back Roe V Wade so badly? (she is pro choice, BTW, one area where she unequivocally disagrees with the GOP)
Tancredo, why is he there? Who's this Brownback guy? She saw them as nothing more than political flotsam.
Paul, very entertaining and she didn't take him seriously at all.
Huckabee. The winner, in her book. Why? Because he was the only one who "answered the questions without stumbling all over himself".
She also wondered why they all didn't just come right and say they're homophobic, since it's patently clear that's exactly what they're promoting.
OH, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, Repub candidates, my R leaning sister really wanted to like you. She really did. But, even with massive benefits of doubt, even with someone who struggles with the idea of voting for a Democrat (we grew up in a solidly R home, and it seems she hasn't quite shaken the last vestiges of childhood influences), even with all that, you all bombed so badly that an evolution defying, death row inmate killing, Roe v Wade opposing, southern preacher looked the best to her, and that bloom will fade quickly as his fundie views becomes more evident.
:toast: To the most hapless group of candidates ever assembled. Keep up the good work!

edit, spelling.
