Did anyone else notice something about the Republican debate?
Something that had nothing to do with the candidates, or the youtube questions from the public?

I didn't see much of it, so my impression might be wrong.

Even so, Anderson Cooper as moderator seemed to me to handle his role professionally, impartially, and
seriously. Even though he is CNN, this was an ENORMOUS contrast to the disgraceful performance by Wolf
Blitzer with the Democrats. So much so that Anderson Cooper seemed far more presidential than any of the
Republican candidates, themselves, where Blitzer gave the impression that he was a Republican candidate
who turned up at the wrong event.

By the way, some of the youtube questioners were some kind of scary nut cases--I mean refugess from padded
cells that were very much in need of regaining their former occupants.

1. I didn't watch the debate (and I commend those of you who did - it must have
been tough), but I just now watched a clip that was posted here on DU.

It was the YouTube question from the retired Army General who is now openly gay. I was impressed with how Anderson Cooper earnestly tried to get Romney to take a stance, answer the question.

When he was on the CNN YouTube debate for the Dems, I was very impressed by him then, also.

I'm toying with who I'd like to moderate the next Dem debate. Thus far I have Helen Thomas and Anderson Cooper.

2. I wonder if they took that General out of the replay
I had read something about that question on DU earlier. But I watched the replay at 11 p.m. (central) and I didn't see it. I guess it's possible that I got distracted by something, but I don't recall seeing anything about a gay General.

5. I doubt Helen would want to do it.
She is first and foremost a print journalist, and at age 87 not about to spend 90 minutes on her feet
roaming around the floor of some auditorium. This was the first time I'd seen Cooper do this, and I
couldn't tell at all where his personal sentiments lie, which is a compliment to a moderator of such
an event. But, again, I only saw very little of it, as I had more pressing things to do at 2 AM, such as sleep!

6. From the brief look I got
Cooper did not act like a whore. Blitzer did.

8. I noticed that "ambulance chasing" Edwards would get creamed
against "mafia fighting" Giulliani in any election.

Edwards should drop out now for the good of the party.
