World War II

The German technique was called the German equivalent of "u-boat". During the Double Tenth Incident, waterboarding consisted of binding or holding down the victim on his back, placing a cloth over his mouth and nose, and pouring water onto the cloth. In this version, interrogation continued during the torture, with the interrogators beating the victim if he did not reply and the victim swallowing water if he opened his mouth to answer or breathe. When the victim could ingest no more water, the interrogators would beat or jump on his distended stomach.<32><33> In 1947, the United States charged a Japanese officer, Yukio Asano, with war crimes for carrying out waterboarding on a U.S. civilian. 6. Someone in the know...I forget who....said waterboarding is not simulated drowning...

It IS the exact same thing as drowning! You ARE drowning! However, it can be stopped at any moment and is suppose to be under control. The body, not just the mind...goes through all the physical attributes of drowning...like lungs filling with water etc. and several prisoners have actually died from waterboarding. It's like drowning someone over and over again...and they can't even hold their breath and slowly release oxygen. They immediately start breathing in water. AND THAT'S NOT TORTURE? :shrug:
