Heres a thought.
For the first time ever, America will see the power of woman voters. You've come a long way baby!

2. I though we saw that power exerted in 1992 with their overwhelming votes
...for Bill Clinton. Are you suggesting that Hillary will carry most of the women voters in the country? If so, please state your sources

3. I would state my source if that was my intention.
It was a thought, so if you can figure out how to get that source out of my brain, please post the directions for me to use.

4. Well, I realize you said it was your thought, but in 2008 we will have about 223.4 million
...Americans who will be of voting age of which 109.3 will be male and thus 114.1 million will be female.

Given that during the 2004 presidential election according to the U.S. Census data approximately 91.3% of voting age persons in the U.S. are citizens, of which 72.1% were actually registered to vote and of those only 63.8% actually voted.

http://www.census.gov/Press-Release/www/releases/archives/CB05-73Table1.xls

So, regardless of gender, it would seem the democratic party needs to concentrate on registering voters and getting them to the polls to vote.

7. And what does that have to do with the price of tea in China?
Mark my words women will be voting in droves this next election.

13. Please state your basis for suggesting that twice the number of women will
...be voting in 2008 compared to 2004!

5. What about "women voters" who have been pulling levers, punching cards, and touching screens...
since 1920? Do they not count?

6. Of course they do.
But this next election is going to be the year of the woman. No matter who they vote for, I believe they will be voting in the next election in droves like we have never seen before.

Regardless of the outcome...that would be a tribute to real *democratic* progress.

18. I believe it's going to be the year of the woman.
No matter who they vote for. Woman have been given the visibility that is unheard of in previous campaigns. I don't just mean who's running in the campaigns, but who's running the campaigns for the candidates.

As you can see there is one person trying to shit in this thread but they do so at their own peril.

12. I think more women than men will vote in 2008 because demographically there
...are currently more women of voting age in the population base. But, that will only happen if there are active efforts by the democratic party to register more eligible voters and to also get voters to go to their assigned precincts and vote! Neither thoughts or talking will accomplish this, only action and organization by the party will do this. So what is the democratic party doing to organize and take action to get the voter registration up and to motivate voters to go and vote? Reducing the choices and not allowing the state party organizations to speak out is not helping this effort.

14. This discussion is going nowhere because the OP knows full well
...that neither party has any intention of getting greater numbers of voters registered and out to the polls. Each party is conducting "business as usual" and are in fact putting in delberate bocks to assure that all those who can vote will in fact get to vote.

15. Speaking of "state your sources," could you?
Edited on Wed Nov-28-07 03:12 PM by Perry Logan
Do you have information on the blocks they're putting in the way of voter registration? I'm suspicious of unsourced statements to the effect that the parties are behaving in exactly the same way.

16. Interesting. In 2000, 2002, and 2004, I helped registered several hundred for the party.
Just goes to show reality always extinguishes left wing hysteria.

People who want to keep women in their place? Or women who are to brainwashed to know they can make a difference?

23. You're cute. Give me an example of both A and B.
I marched (before I could vote) for the ERA and medical privacy rights. I benefitted from Title IX and rallied with fellow athletes in support of it. I even campaigned WELL before I could vote for the inimitable Shirley Chisholm.

So if you aren't being cute--out with it. Give examples of both.
