Did Mika this morning get Fran Townsend to admit that the US tortures?

Because I thought that's what I saw happen on the segment of Morning Joe on MSNBC where Mika interviewed retiring National Security adviser Fran Townsend.

I thought that Mika asked a question involving torture where Townsend responded:

(my quick interpretation as I was about to head out the door to work)



It's a very limited program

It's only done to a few people who need it (if they know of immediate threat or where Osama is)

If a torturer feels like they need to stop torturing they can.(She (Townsend) did NOT use the word torture, probably more like interrogator)

They usually stop if they think someone might die

It's overseen by the CIA



I was really quite shocked. I haven't seen even a ripple about this interview. Anyone else see it? I thought Townsend said a lot more than she might have realized she was saying. No transcript that I can find as of yet.

2. Mika Brzezinski - she is Zbig's daughter and is the morning news anchor

on Morning Joe Scarborough on MSNBC. This is the show that replaced Imus and I have to say I am enjoying it for the most part - more for Mika and Willie Geist than Joe Scarborough. They almost seem like they are actually discussing events.

I think Mika's got a big future ahead of her - think Barbara Walters only more so.
