Democrats stronger in Missouri (All beat GOP in match-ups)
Edited on Mon Nov-19-07 01:50 PM by Kurt_and_Hunter
Cheerful results, considering I've seen Missouri mentioned as the toughest of the big three possible pick-up states---Missouri, Ohio and Florida. (personally, I think Florida is the toughest and Ohio the easiest)

Research 2000 released a poll from Missouri today. And the top 3 Democrats lead all 12 of their match-ups against the 3 Republicans -- and here too, McCain is the strongest GOPer. And remember, this is a state Bush won twice, rather comfortably in 2004.

Hillary Clinton crushes Rudy Giuliani 47% to 39%, Mitt Romney 47% to 38%, and Fred Thompson 46% to 38%. She also leads McCain, albeit by a smaller 46% to 41%.

Obama leads 46% to 42% against Giuliani, 46% to 38% against Romney, 47% to 38% against Thompson. He does lead McCain by 6 points, though, 46% to 40%.

Edwards leads Giuliani 47% to 40%, Romney 47% to 38%, Thompson 47% to 37%, and McCain 46% to 41%.

It is worth noting that these results come despite Hillary Clinton's high unfavorables (47-48), while Obama stands at 45-31. The Republican numbers are bad (Giuliani is also 47-48), which seems to be a result of the voters souring on the GOP.

2. Missouri would be big. (I think Ohio is all but in the bag, but every little bit helps!)
Assuming the economy is much worse in late 2008 than it is today (which seems likely), we could win Ohio by 6-7 points. (IMHO)

3. And the simplistic part of my brain gets even more disturbed.
Even if progressives and liberals took eighty percent of the offices in the whole country, there would still be a bunch of conservatives who refuse to get in line and go around telling people, "what you want isn't what you want! What you want is what I want and I can prove to you you want what I want you to want, not what you think you want!"

Or some bs like that.

This country really is fast becoming a banana republic and we can't even grow bananas on most of it. We will win because we must win.
