one more WTF? Obama moment
Barack Obama has unveiled a new line of criticism against Hillary: In speeches he's started to point to the allegation made in Jeff Gerth and Don Van Natta's Hillary book that the Clintons secretly formulated a 20-year-plan to deliver the presidency first to Bill, and then to Hillary.

"I'm not in this race to fulfill some long-held plan or because it was owed to me," Obama said the other day.

Asked if that were a reference to the Gerth allegation, an Obama spokesperson left virtually no doubt that it was, telling Newsday: "Barack Obama has not been mapping out his run for president from Washington for the last 20 years like some of his opponents."

But the source that Gerth and Van Natta cited with supposed first-hand knowledge of this plan -- historian Taylor Branch -- has since vehemently denied that any such pact existed. "The story is preposterous," Branch told The Washington Post, adding: "I never heard either Clinton talk about a 'plan' for them both to become president."

http://tpmelectioncentral.com/2007/11/obama_using_gerth_account_of_clintons_20yearplan_to_fault_clinton.php

Now he's using books with sources who discredit the basic premise of the book itself? WTF?

3. Jeff Gerth is a NOTORIOUS Republican stooge and a fake, lying reporter.
He BECAME notorious in the 90s when he peddled his fake Whitewater stories. Obama does not even PRETEND to be a Democrat anymore.

None of this may connect for you, but it does for a growing number of us on the left.

12. Couple that with Cheney announcing he wouldn't run for President
after selecting him self as Bush's Vice-President, I believe the stage was set from the beginning.

8. Yeah, it's kind of a nonstory.
I mean, haven't most people assumed Hillary would take a shot at the presidency pretty much from the day she announced her first Senate campaign?

7. This is stupid. Of course the Clintons wanted to be president.
Most people who become president wanted to be president. Most people who run for president wanted to be president since they were little kids. Bill Clinton often talks about meeting JFK and wanting to be president from the time he was a kid.

So what?

9. So Hillary is fulfilling a lifelong ambition...
What is Obama doing? If he knew the answer to that one, he wouldn't keep making these crazy blunders.

16. I guess when you've got nothing else....
You spin desire and ambition as something evil.
Plus I don't buy it, but if I did, I still wouldn't care. :)

13. He is now at the bottom of my candidate list!
I haven't made up my mind yet, but the past few days have shown he is not anyone that I can support enthusiastically. If he is the nominee I will hold my nose and vote for him.

I do thank you

22. Another silly mistake -
If Hillary gets the question - "Of course Obama's statement about me is not true. However, just as Obama started dreaming at a young age about one day being President of this great country I want to inspire, welcome and support every little boy and, in particular, every little girl to embrace the dream. One of the results that I hope will come out of my candidacy is the raising of hopes and possibilities for every young girl to aspire to the job - to understand that a barrier has been broken..."

In short - Obama has lobbed Hillary a great big fat soft ball.
