And I have yet to have confirmed that the mic Obama was using was hooked up to a PA system for the room. It's possible that it was only being used in order to preserve his comments.

As I've said before, we're not going to have a clear idea of what exactly happened until we get some additional, unedited perspective.

This is a good example of what is wrong with our political debate. Someone pauses before answering to think about the question and people take it as political calculation rather than good listening skills - a technique which by the way, teachers are taught to use because it shows they are not just regurgitating a "canned" answer. And it is better to stop and think, even in the middle of a sentence, rather than to "fill in the thinking time" with meaningless words. Good teachers know that also. I did not see his response as "over the top" at all. Speakers need to project their voices in a situation like that to be heard.

No, I'm saying that the video doesn't accurately depict the ambience of the room, in exactly the fashion that the "Dean Scream" video didn't accurately depict the raucousness going on in the room when Howard Dean was rallying his supporters. The microphone he was using dampened exterior noise making it sound on the video that was replayed over and over like he was screaming like a banshee in a church service. It wasn't accurate, and CNN for one knew it wasn't accurate, but CNN alone played the video over 800 times in a two week period. It was only months later, when Dean's candidacy was kaput that CNN finally admitted that it had a hand in it with their dishonest reporting.

Do we know exactly why he appears frustrated? No. The tape edits keep us from knowing that.

Also, this seems to be cut up video, so it's hard to tell exactly what was going on. Based upon the original question though, it sounds like she wanted him to say specific things, otherwise she wouldn't be happy. It seems that this discussion turned into her insisting that he takes up Republican styled views on these issues, and woudln't accept anything less, and probably in there implied that Obama didn't know what he was talking about, since he didn't agree with her.

I don't care that she's old, it sounds like she was likely being an ass to him. Heck, she might have even been planted to try to rile him up.
