Reno assemblywoman backs John Edwards
Former U.S. Sen. John Edwards has picked up the endorsement of Assemblywoman Debbie Smith, D-Sparks, giving him the largest contingent of support from Northern Nevada Democratic lawmakers of any presidential candidate.

Republican-rich Northern Nevada is home to only a handful of Democratic Assembly members. Edwards has won over three of the four who represent the Reno area.

"So far, John Edwards is taking the time to look at the issues statewide and then not forget there is a Nevada outside of Clark County," said Assemblyman David Bobzien, D-Reno, who endorsed Edwards in September.

Assemblyman Bernie Anderson, D-Sparks, also has endorsed Edwards.

1. That's good news. Thanks for the post.
I'll be traveling from Ca this weekend to see him at a Town Hall in Reno NV. This will be my first Town Hall ever, kind of excited about the idea.

4. I think John is going to prove very popular out west. .Hillary is not very popular in my western
state.Richardson, with a sort of favorite son status, Obama and Edwards seem to have the most backing. Though most are conceding Richardson isn't bonafide. His support is soft. They see him as VP.

5. Unfortunately..
The New York Democrat is the top pick of over half, 51 percent, of the likely caucus participants interviewed for the poll. Her closest rival, Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois, was the choice of 23 percent. Former Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina came in at 11 percent.

All other candidates came in at single digits: New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, 5 percent; Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware, 4 percent; former Sen. Mike Gravel at 1 percent and Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich at 1 percent.
