1. Things like this are disgraceful.
This is the worst level of "gotcha" smears.

14. Got any proof this is from Hillary?
Or are you engaging in another smear?

15. "Hillary Camp"?? That smear is just as bad as the email mentioned in the OP.
Due to DU rules, I cannot comment further.

3. I am from Iowa and the only emails I have received about that incident...
were from Repugs from other states. They have blown an innocent thing all out of proportion, as they are wont to do.

5. Fox has been running something about a darn flag
pin missing on lapel. Another dumb story about hand over heart

I was not paying that much attention. When RWers get something
off Fox, I am sure they can really embellish

6. After hearing the anthem sung at the steak fry
(about halfway down the page here: http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/anthem.asp)

...I'd say he should've held both hands over his ears.

Who the fuck has the national anthem at a barbecue, anyway? :wtf:

7. Jesus
Tuesday night in Cedar Rapids, a woman stood, describing herself as "a mother of two small children trying to instill how important it is to be politically minded." As her young son stood behind her she asked about the e-mail charge, which she said had her son "very concerned."

THIS is what she is telling her son to be concerned about?

Why do we give these people the first vote, again?

8. Many thought the swiftboaters were silly too--like it or not this thing has made the mainstream
Of course it's ridiculous but the way these things work is to build up a story line about a candidate based on inconsequential sometimes ridiculous assertions and pound away on it. First the lapel pin, now this. Raise the question, who is Barack Obama and who does he really serve? For something like this there are a great many rabid flag wavers who will be more than eager to carry the ball.

Silly, you say. How about a group of navy colleagues questioning the war record of a former navy officer with a chestful of medals who is now a candidate for president? Kerry's dismissing this helped lead to his defeat--or let Bush get close enough to steal it--your choice.

It'll be interesting to see how Obama handles this.

Because it would be a travesty if he were a Muslim. :eyes:

It could only be worse if someone said he was an atheist.

16. I've Been a Traitor at Every Baseball Game I've Ever Been To
While I agree that you should take off your hat during the anthem, most people don't seem to put their hand on their heart, just sing along (or listen).

Another case of faux indignation!!! Episode #8892764261.

17. I received that e-mail from my MIL
She's a swing voter, very vulnerable to that sort of misinformation. Thanks for giving me a link so I could explain to her what happened.

BTW, I'm glad I she sends me these right-wing e-mails. It gives me a lot of insight as to what we need to combat. And I've debunked so much nonsense that now when she sends me something of this ilk, she begins by asking, "Is this true?" :)

21. Wow, I can't believe any Iowans believe this crap!
I know that many people (who don't plan on caucusing or aren't even politically involved) are attending Obama events.

I just have to believe in informed Iowans who can see through bogus spam emails.

23. Trust me! Iowans do not fall for that crap!
I didn't even read it when it first made the rounds, but every single email I've received about Obama's faux pas came from strong-minded Repugs, and not one of them lives in Iowa. The same people that flooded my in box with Kerry crap in 2004.

They apparently receive this stuff early in the morning from the Repug headquarters, as they all hit me the same day before noon. Sheesh!

Aside from that fault, we remain friends...just don't discuss politics.
