I don't think so. I think they felt empowered by picking on Kucinich, someone they feel won't smack them back at them because he's such a gentleman. Gutless bullies the media are, that's for sure. I think the media mocked Dennis so much about the UFO comment for 1 of 3 reasons, maybe for all 3 reasons:

1) They're simply bullies who took advantage of pouncing on a nice guy who wouldn't smack them back in kind.

2) They're trying to diminish Dennis's credibility because they are secretly afraid of him and how he epitomizes true Democratic ideals.

3) The ones mocking him are aliens themselves and are afraid of getting outed. I mean, just look at Russert, Matthews, and Dobbs. I've been suspicious for several years that all of them are from somewhere else in the universe...with the way their eyes bulge out whenever they get carried away and with their distorted grimaces on their face as they shriek on endlessly, colored droplets of alien saliva sometimes dripping from the corners of their mouths as they rant out of control. I swear I saw 3 eyeballs deep inside Russert's mouth as he squalked on and on about it during the debate. If you had to pick three people on Earth who were possible aliens from another planet, those 3 jerkoffs would top the list.

3. Biden and Rudy wouldn't admit they saw UFO's. There is such a
thing as too much honesty--most of the other candidates have political skills that prevent such mockery.

6. "most of the other candidates have political skills that prevent such mockery"
You nailed it. With Kucinich, he just wants to get his message across with no frills, bullshit, or ulterior motives, other than being himself. The rest of them are pretty much staged actors...politicians to the core.

4. Can't remember who said it - but the same people who ridicule
him - believe in faith and that god has a beard and angels with wings fly around - something no one has actually even seen.

8.  I don't think it's his looks. I think it's his demeanor. He's a real gentleman, maybe too much so
Ross Perot didn't look like Gods gift to humanity either, yet he did pretty well as a third party candidate. He came on as a forceful personality and I think that makes a big difference.

Let's just hope that someday we get a president who's got a soul like Kucinich inside him or her.
