Danger: 47% in California support dividing CA electoral votes. 34% oppose
Edited on Tue Nov-06-07 10:18 PM by antiimperialist
There has to be a way to explain to these people the real motives behind this move and the consequences it will bring if passed.

Survey USA notes that they did not ask the question about the specific California ballot initiative being cooked by the GOP, but this is not encouraging news.
Conducted Nov 2-5

2. Oh Puleeezzzeee. Stop with the be afraid shit
I would be willing to bet that less than 30% of registered Ca. voters even know about the Puke plan. The only ones even paying attention are junkies like us.

Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if this passed.

5. Exactly
If *every* state followed it, then the Electoral College would more closely follow the popular vote. The EC has far outlived its usefulness, IMHO.

7. I don't support it, even if all states do it. Here is why
Having a popular vote system, is very different from this initiative. Democrats dominate fewer districts with more people. That's the key to understand why Republicans want this to pass. If you drew a map you will see a lot more red districts than blue, but that's because Republicans own a zillion of large deserted districts when it comes to surface area, but not a lot of inhabitants.

34. Hey, let's support it as long as we split CA into three states
Northern, Central and Southern California.
That's four more senators guys.

Yeah, keep fucking with us.

17. Dude, Survey USA just predicted today's KY Gov. elections accurately
SUSA poll: Beshear 59%-39%
Election results: Beshear 59%-41

granted, the initiative is not in the ballot and it won't be voted on tomorrow, but as of today, people in CA are in the dark about this and are playing with fire.

20. according to the poll, they asked a generic question about the electoral college.
to 1700 people. They did not identify the iniative and say clearly that the results do not say that people would support that particular iniative.

31. well, not exactly. they ditched it because a lawsuit for fraud was brought up against the
principal funder and he ditched it. They had to go find new money.
I know the courage campaign put out an email saying "we did it", but that was wishful thinking.

16. na na na na. no. the survey was of 1700 people, and they were asked a generic question about
the electoral college. NOT if they want california's votes to be divided. This my friend, is a democratic state. This shit is not going to roll with california's voters. no way. no how. Unfortunately, moeny will ahv to be spent to explain what the iniatiative is, since the republicans are spending big bucks to get it through. But that is NOWHERE near saying that 47% of california voters agree with the iniative.

We should be pushing for this in red states until the Electoral College is repealed through a Constitutional amendment.

Now if I were asked "Do you favor cherry picking States to assure a GOP victory?, then my anwser would be NO FUCKING WAY.

36. Not enough, experts say passing an initiative requires 70%+ support out of the gate
Because support drops off until election day, also, lingering doubts or questions turn into "no" votes on the initiative.

Have seen this many times.
