It's the Economy, Stupid
Why is it that I,and everyone else I know, always do better when the Democrats are in office? Could it be that the Democrats are really the party of business?

How did Democrats become the party of fiscal responsibility? Remember the Republican phrase "Tax and spend Democrats?" You don't hear that one much these days, do you?

Anyway, I'm hearing right now that people around me are worried about jobs. The phrase these days seems to be that we're in a "jobless recovery". I think Democrats have to hammer home on this theme.

The middle class has horrible representation in Washington these days. The radio talk show morons prattle on about how Democrats are running a McGovern-style campaign, and how the Democrats will never get anywhere with this because they will lose the South and the West.

Forget the South and the West. Talk to the middle class.

I think that it might be a good idea to reach every single chatroom online and say stuff about it.

2. "Jobs, jobs, jobs, health care, health care, health care."
Pound it home, and never let up. THAT'S what is resonating here in Illinois, despite all the much-ballyhooed 'national security' talk. I eat two meals a day in a small-town, blue-plate diner, and national security rarely comes up as an issue.

3. Clintons Legacy
Was that Deficit reduction works; everybody always assumed it would be a conservative who would finally tackle the deficit, but it turned out to be a Democrat. Who showed that fiscal responsibility can work, while both providing necessary social programs and necessary military spending.
